Mudguards for downtube
After allot of looking around and helpful advice from people on this board I decided on a Downtube instead of a Dahon. Hope I made the right decision.
But it would be good to get hold of some mudguards (front and rear) for it. So would appreciate if you could point me in the right direction.

You didn't specify which model you have. For mudguards (fenders) the main question is do you have suspension or not?
If you don't have suspension, then any mudguard made for 20" wheels should fit. SKS, Zefal and Planet Bike make high quality ones.
If you have suspension then you'll need to adapt one of the above to fit, because the full suspension Downtubes don't have mounting for mudguards (or at least didn't last time I read about it).
Velochocolate (https://www.velochocolate.co.uk/) is run by one of the forum members here, and were looking at providing a kit to fit Downtubes. I don't know if that is currently available - the web page isn't working.

I am in the market for full fenders for a DT full suspension, too. I pm'd the velochocolate guy. I am in the U.S. so he may not be able to help.

Did you have any luck trying to get hold of him? I tried to e-mail them on the website, but it says the mail box is full, and I can’t find velocholate on bike forums.

Sammy responded. He says that his customers have been using clip on mudguards. He hasn't really tried them himself, but will post something later. Did not recommend a brand. I'll keep googling and try to find a solution and will respond if something works.

I'm healthy, but busy! Velochocolate is a spare-time venture, and I've had no spare time. Got a promotion at work which has meant super busy times. The folding bike market is all but dead over the winter, and that's why I've been slow to fix the site. It worked fine, then everyone upgraded their browser, and now it doesn't work at all. I'll be trying to put some time in over the next week or two to make it work.
Regarding mudguards, though, I just couldn't find anything that would work for the rear. I've got good p-clips for front guards, but the frame piece that's where the brake bridge would be is a weird oval profile. I can easily bend a p-clip to fit, but that's just not good enough for something I'm offering to customers. Also, this years full suspension bikes have a different arrangment at the rear, and only seem to have one mudguard fitting, rather than the two we had previously. I may try to bodge a solution for my 07 bike for full coverage guards, and then try clipons on the 09, for comparison, but I don't see myself able to offer a retail solution any time soon.
I've been very frustrated in my attempts to start velo chocolate by the way. Most distributors will only deal with me if I have a shopfront, and that would mean going full-time and raising finance. Those few smaller manufacturers who will deal with me are incredibly amateurish, to the point where I've actually given up trying to order anything other than Downtube bikes. I'm going to fix the site, and I may try again to build up the product base when I'm less busy and have more energy and motivation for it. In the meantime, it's just gonna be the Downtubes .

Hey Gus. No, the helmet supplier were a nightmare. We sorted out pricing, and I was ready to order, but I couldn't get them to give me payment details. They would just say "You have to do a direct bank transfer". I said "Sure, but to what bank account?". I asked them that three times without getting an answer, and then I got sick of it.
As far as promotion, in such a small company, it's not a new job title, it's that my credibility is growing, so I'm getting to do higher profile work, manage big accounts, and generally do more of everything. I'm loving it, but it's cut right into my bike time, as has getting back into playing music.

Finally, got these fenders installed on my downtube full suspension. Actually, they've been on there a while but I had yet to post an update. See pix at bottom to skip my pithy description.
These are Planet Bike Hardcore recumbent 20” fenders. I believe they are also called “freddy fenders”. Planet bike sells them separately so you can’t buy them as a set. I guess it’s common for recumbent to have a different sized front and rear wheel (thus no sets). Including shipping both these cost me about $30.
It was a little challenging installing the rear fender. I criss-crossed some handi ties over the screw hole (the Downtube doesn’t have any place to fasten these). Still, the fender would slip down gradually while riding. I applied some duct tape around the screw hole area so that this wouldn’t happen. The duct tape went under the fender and around the frame. I could have made some holes instead of the duct tape, but I didn’t want to damage/modify the fenders as I may sell them later if I get rid of this bike.
The front fork of the Downtube doesn’t have a hole that neatly lines up with the wire holder of the fender. Thus, I fastened it using handi ties to the fork. I could have done p-clamps, but that would require me cutting the wire short. Again, I didn’t want to modify the original parts. I wish that planet bike would make their wires long and with an adjustable fastener to go up and down the fender. I’ve seen these fenders on some bikes. Longer adjustable wires would allow you to reach further or shorter depending on the holes on the frame/fork. Another option is to use the holes that the Downtube has for disc brakes (and only on one side of the fork), but I wanted to keep those clear for now.
