Full size folding bikes

I purchased a Montague folding bike for myself and a SwissBike for my wife, they worked perfect on our trip to Mackinac Island. We just carried the bags on the ferry over and they fold or unfold in less than a minute. The folded size is 36x28x10" with the folding pedals, we bought both bikes at Red Elm Outfitters online. I like the full size bike over the smaller folding bikes.

Awesome. Just curios. Were you charged to carry a bike on the ferry?

Here in Okinawa Japan there is a ferry that runs to a local island and they charge 5 or 10 bucks to float a bicycle across, however there is no charge to float a folded bicycle across.

I'd love a full sized folder but in my case I often throw my folder in a taxi. On mainland Japan I intend to carry mine on the trains as well.

My girlfriend and I have 2 Montague Folding bikes. We frequent Nantucket via ferry. Normally there is a charge for the bikes, but when they are in the carry bags you don't get hassled!

Folding bike ferry charge

No they didn't charge us for the bikes, but ours were in their bags with the luggage. Now I don't know if we had just the bikes and no luggage.
