I am now "that guy"
A couple of weeks ago I told one of my bike shop buddies (reluctantly) that I was looking into a folder - his immediate response was - "oh, your gonna be that guy".
I went from never even considering owning a small wheel bike to having one next to my in my hotel room as I type. A bunch of you chimed in here - I thought a swift was imminent. However I found this. I met the previous owner today - I didn't bother haggling because of all the crap he had to put up with just to meet me. Anyway - the bike is in perfect condition - and the previous owner gave me a bunch of spares - 2 extra sets of tires, a lifetime supply of tubes (really - I have not counted them yet), and a longer BF stem - that I already installed.
I took the bike out tonight - less than 10 miles -
The good:
Rides well -
Handles pretty good
Folds well and quick
Fits in my luggage
The bad:
Really not much - need a bit more post, maybe .5 inch or less, and I'm at the limit - maybe a longer post - longer cranks first.
The seat sucks - but I have others
170mm cranks - I have a set of 172.5 ultagras sitting on the bench at home
Bars are a bit narrow - either bullhorns or bar ends - uggh -I havent used bar ends since the mid 90s
The ugly:
Just me - the bikes kinda cute
Quick list of the parts:
Sun CR-18 w/ XT hubs front and rear
sora cranks w/ square taper BB (soon to be Ultegra w/ octalink)
11x34 9 speed Sram cassette and shifter
Tektro brakes (I have XTR at home)
Avocet seat - yuk - (soon to be flight Ti)
American classic post (soon to be a longer one)
Tires - Conti top touring 2000's (plus 2 others, skinner and fatter) with most the tread - the bike was very lightly ridden - probably under 100 miles.
I will post pics later – I forgot the USB for my camera.
Long ride tomorrow.
Thoughts please.

Excellent find! I just bought a Pocket Crusoe and love the thing. It was going to be my weekend bike, but damned if I haven't made it my commuter, grocery-getter, stop-at-the-bar bike, too. Again, great find, and I hope you enjoy. I've done a 90-mile, 2-day trip on the BF, and not a squeak did it make. You should have no issues with rides long or short. The quick fold is not so neat and tidy as other bikes, and that's a slight drawback on my commute, but not enough of one to gunk up the works. I just allow a minute to fold instead of 15 seconds like my Dahon.

Rode the bike ~30 tonight - with a bunch of climbing, I'm shocked - the bike climbs like a monkey climbing a banna tree. The gearing is way too low - 39 front with an 11-34 cassette. I have a crankset with a 53 at home - I'm hopeing that will do the trick. I went up a big climb today and the lowest gear I was in was 3rd - w/o standing. The flats and down hills I spun out way too early.

If it does = Fred - then this Fred smoked a bunch of roadies on a climb today. I'm still in Portland for a couple more days - no pics till I get home.
Today rode from down town Portland via 30 to Sauvie Island - went around the island, then up to forest park - took Skyline across the hill back to down town. Who would have thought I could ride this on a 20" bike wearing baggy shors and sandals (no one has to know they are SPD sandals)?
Great bike - not great enough to ride instead of my regular bikes when at home - but a bike I will look forward to travel with, or ride at home when the need arises.

Back when I was 12 (a long, long time ago) I was a dedicated surfer - when somone showed up to the beach with a new board and could not or would not ride it they were a Fred - I'm sure the "Fred" designation exists in many sports.
