Missing middle gear, Nexus Inter-3

Guys & Gals, I need help.

I've setup the Nexus Inter-3 and calibrated it as per instructions: when in 2nd gear little yellow indicator is between the yellow lines on the click-box. The right end of the axle also aligns with the little window border. Never less, I'm unable to shift into the middle gear, 2nd, direct-drive. In first gear I get the lowest gear (~40 gear inches), in 2nd and 3rd I get the highest gear (~80 gear inches). But 2nd is supposed to go into a middle gear of ~60 gear inches.

Any advice?

- Jakub

Is it an old or new one?

They`ve got a reputation for being a bit difficult. I got help in this forum some time back, https://groups.yahoo.com/group/Geared_hub_bikes/ but i ended up replacing it with a 5 speet Torpedo (since I had one lyng around).

I am sure it has been discussed in BF too, but searching is not always easy.

Alrighty, thanks Chiapas and BM. Indeed I was wondering if they have a 'reputation' and/or this may be a known issue in general .

My SRAM T-3 hub gets this sometimes; the solution is to fiddle with the tension of the cable going into the hub. (The cable leading from the shifter along the side of the bike, that enters at the center of the hub.) On my bike, everything lines up when the cable is not quite taut in 3rd gear.

The cable setup is wery different on the shmano and Sram, but of course it must be tryed..

jakub.ner: How old is your hub (approx)?
