The photos do indeed make it look like 24" or larger wheels, but the article states that it has 20" wheels.

I like the look of this bike and their attempt to add the kind of basic functionality that many urban riders need. I think that it is long overdue for lights, front and rear, to be built into the design of bikes. I'd like to see a good quality, rechargeable battery built into the frame to power the lights and accessories. The bike could simple be plugged in to juice it up.

I remember them from years back ... actually work pretty alright , eventually wear through and than you can throw them away and everything is back to normal ...I am sure I have a few left over in my garage.... neon pink was the color of choice at those days ...

I thought the wheels looked larger too - must be the frame structure/shape creating some sort of illusion. The built-in battery is a pretty idea - would the weight be a turn-off for riders though?


I have them behing my TV too but I hope the chainguard is sturdier than the cable wrappers!

that bike looks pretty nice, i like how it looks not sure id like a handlebar integrated light.. component independence is better, but i bet the new hub generators are very nice! good effort from dahon!

the bike is pretty stunning I think ..... it will look better than the pics I am sure even.... the details like light etc are stunning ...

I think the stem is a piece of art . Can hardly wait to see if it functions as well

I think its a nice detail with the chainwrap ( just please call it what it is and lets not reinvent the wheel here ...lol )

Having said that anybody has a pic of them chainwraps from a few years back ?
I looked under my workbench and all i could find is other old junk, but no chainwrap anymore ..darn

That's exactly what we need, more propriety parts from Dahon ;-)

MY experience with getting proprietary spare parts from Dahon is very poor (and I live in the same state as their HQ). This includes a chain guard for Vitesse D7HG (eventually a good soul got more a very similar one that I was able to Dremel to fit in), Magnetix fold lock (still out of stock), left shifter for Mu P24 (Dahon referred me to a standard SRAM shifter but it has twice the cable pull that the DualDrive Clickbox requires).

This experience thought me the importance of good support and standard parts.

I like this bike overall but let's hope the parts hold up over time. I'm really looking forward to a multuse hub that does more than just provide light but can recharge GPS's and IPods. This is a needed product whose time has come.

The article is in error; those are 24" wheels as Dahon already uses on their Glide models.

Don't know which left shifter came on your Mu P24, but any DualDrive hub shifter should work .. I use a trigger shifter like This One..

The Mu P24 comes with a DualDrive left *twist* shifter, not *trigger*. Let's see if you can find a DualDrive left *twist* shifter. ;-)

That would be a delivery problem from Sram and not so much Dahon, or do I see that wrong ?

Huh, very interesting. That stem sounds odd / potentially cool. Pre-building the electronics charger hub is pretty cool. HOPEFULLY it's just a powered USB port rather than needing proprietary cables from Dahon. The chainguard I saw on some other place as a DIY project.

Not exactly. This is a special OEM part that is not sold retail and does not even appears in SRAM technical documentation. It seems to be a Dahon special order.

I will not be surprised if this is also the case with the SpeedPro TT left shifter. As far as I know, Shimano does not sell to the public left shifters with DualDrive cable travel.

Bottom line is that Dahon sells new bikes for which customers cannot find spare parts and Dahon will not sell from their own stock (which they use for new bikes only).

If I am wrong, please correct me and, I will be more than happy to retract these statements.

Edit: and the same goes for those brake levers with bell on them.

brake levers with silly bell ..... you can get ANY other brake lever to substitute. if that bell falls off the brake lever still ****ions ....

what do you need I havent gotten any requests for anything left side dual drive in my order form to Dahon ...

Sram might not have that item listed for sale , but they dont do that for Dahon only , they sell the dual drive all over the world. Any dealer should ( is ) capable of ordering any sram part they produce .

When a supplier like Sram gets speck on a bike than they are liable to make sure that part is available, without that promise they dont get specked , its really like that.
