it's hard to choose

Thinking to a new folder "for the life":

- brompton M6L: pro . compact, use and store everywhere, good for daily life
- bike friday: pro - good for touring and for long rides, cons - no so compact
- dahon mu sl: pro - light and lots of gears, cons - not so compact
- dahon pro tt: pro - really lots of gears, fast, cons - not so compact

usage:
monday-friday: commuting on train to go for work, 5 km with some hills
saturday-sunday: longer rides (touring)

ride style: I like to go fast, in particular in the week because I am ever late :-D

Other detail: it would be possible to mount an electric kit (but with crystallyte 209 IT IS possible in all cases)
It would be possible to mount a kid seat (I kow that there is a nice kit for the brompton, I don't know on the others)....ok it is a detail on th choose (I do not have a child for now)

thank you for any suggestions...

Hellow Maurice,

I am a owner of 3 folding bikes, 2 Dahons & one Brompton. Of my 3, I think I am gravitating now more and more to the Brompton as it is the most flexible and durable of all. I cannot comment on attaching a electric motor on one or kid seats. I am aware that others have done these things on their's but I have not on my bike-although I would think that since this little bike has proven to be so flexible and adaptable that I would be very surprised that the bike could not be modified to accept these accessories. I would suggest that before you buy anything, make sure that you test ride at least 2 different makes of folders before you buy. Test riding is critical in making the best choice for you and your family.

I think your +/- list is missing a key criteria which is ride quality. The smile factor. Have you ridden these bikes yet?

I would say it depends on the train situation. If there's no place to put the bike and the train is always crowded, then get the Brompton. However, if you think there's a place to store the bike on the train where size does not matter than any 20' inch folder will work.
