Scorcher TRs Have Arrived

I ordered 40-349 Scorcher TRs a few weeks ago and they just came in. I wanted the TRs because I'd heard they had a reflective sidewall. And do they ever! A sort of checkered one. They're totally unlike Vik's versions or any pictures I can find online. The picture is with flash to show the reflection. Also the compound is quite sticky. Hope these look good on the bike.

Very nice! What shop did you get them through, if you don't mind my asking?

Bikes@Vienna for $42 apiece. (My folder LBS). Calhoun has them online for $41.

Got them on the bike. They're 40-100 PSI, looking for comfiness, I put them at 50 PSI.

Quick notes.

First, they are much smoother than the Marathons. Little bumps and road buzz is smoothed out a *lot*. Bigger bumps are basically the same.

Second, the checkered side wall, in combination with my red bike, make me look like a taxi. Or maybe like I belong in a Five Guys store. :-)

Third, though Vic says they're getting close to the maximum size on the bike, I disagree. It looks to me like the Tikit could easily take another 5mm at least. C'mon Schwalbe! Let's see some Big Apples in 349 made to fit the Tikit and Brompton...

Fourth, they're *very* sticky and pretty thin, which is no doubt what gives them their ride characteristics. I don't doubt people's claims that they wear out after about 1000 miles. But I don't think that'll be an issue for me at all.

Fifth: no data on speed. They seem about the same to me, maybe a bit faster.

Hmmm, the pics below look a bit pink and faded. The bike's much richer red than that, and the tires stand out more.
