Advice please

Does anyone here know if the Dahon Speed ProTT or the Speed TR are still in production - and if so, available in UK?

I live in the Middle East, in the past have brought bikes to Europe for summer tours. Now airlines charge like bulls to do that so I'm thinking of buying a couple of good folders in uk instead, touring this summer and then bringing them back to ME for further tours in this part of the world.

And, if the bikes above have been superceded, what would you experienced people recommend for a couple of fairly experienced cyclists for 50 +/- mpd tours?

Many thanks

Agree with 'feijai' 100% - Great bikes and Bike Friday supports International ownership and travel.

Well worth the investment.

I read somewhere that the Dahon Speed TT was no longer going to be imported to the UK. Its is still available worldwide however, so import ,2nd hand or older stock may be possible.

Both models are still manufactured, but indeed aren't available (officially) in the UK. I'm sure you can get one brought in if you ask nicely...Mark Bickerton (Dahon's UK agent) has said on dahon.com forums that special requests are possible.

I'm bumping a dormant thread - I hope that's ok - but I'm getting closer to choosing a couple of folding bikes for spouse and me to take on a tour this summer in Europe and future India/SE Asia trips

From my research so far

A rather quirky and informative article about a popular (in UK) make of very easy folding bike

With folders, the compromise seems to be between ease and speed of
folding versus pleasure of riding. As I don't foresee 4 folds a day
for a daily commute including trains, I'm more in favour of one of
these - doesn't fold as small or as fast, but apparently great to ride

Both available In London, where we're going in a month or so. I think I'll clear the credit cards for action!!

Nope, sorry, isn't working for me either

Bike is an Airnimal Chameleon Performance Ultra (or Performance Sport, they both look good to me)

I'll post this, and then come back in a couple of minutes with another possible link
