Questions on the BF folding rear rack

    Hi,

Was wondering if the BF folding rear rack:

    1. Really folds?
    2. can be fitted on a tikit?
    3. comes with rollers?

    Thanks lots

    Do you mean this rack?

    http://store.bikefriday.com/product_...oducts_id=9461

    I have one and it:

    1. - does fold and packs flat [yellow bag to the right in photo below is packed rear rack]...you can fold the Bike Friday with it on for times like when you want to fit the bike into a closet, truck of a care, bus, etc...

    2. - this rack is not meant for a Tikit...I'm not sure if you could make it fit....perhaps, but I'd chat with BF as they could tell you for certain...it would cause issues with the Tikit fold for sure.

    3. - this rack does not come with rollers.

It's a nice rack. Just be sure to tighten ALL the bolts once it's installed, or it can dis-assemble itself while you are riding - from personal experience.

For the Tikit, I would recommend getting the double sided Tikit front rack, which allows the bike to fold, acts as a brake when rolling the folded bike, and allows you to carry two full sized panniers.

The standard BF folding rear rack is not made for the Tikit and likely won't allow the Tikit to fold properly. And it doesn't come with rollers.

The Tikit has special a rear rack made for it which works great. It does not take panniers (too short) but does take a box. Though can attach Detours Teeco panniers to the rear rack and they'll stay on fine. The rear rack's primary advantage is that it makes the bike much more stable when folded.

The tikit also has a front rack which *does* take panniers.

BF is supposedly working on a special version of the rear rack which takes panniers but, so far as I know, it's still vaporware. You might call them.

Thanks everybody. You put to rest a nagging itch to try for a full size rear rack on tikit. On a side note. Has anyone here used the new dbl sided front racks with a medium tikit?
