Bike with small rear wheel/larger front wheel.
I was looking at this video and there was a small bike that had a small (16"?) wheel in the back and a larger one in the front (looked like a 26"). I'm not sure if it was a folder.
What would be the advantage of this? Here's the video if you want to check it out. The woman riding this bike appears somewhere in the middle. Cool video nontheless.: http://vimeo.com/5072421 |
I think the advantage is 'looking cool' as that is the net result of such a combination!
Nice vid. Everything is so clean in Tokyo. Nice to see some minibikes in there... |
And not a single helmet to been seen on any of the riders.
Oh, the horror !!! |
The front wheel is responsible for the main disadvantage of small wheels, namely relatively squirrely steering. So a bigger front wheel would minimize this.

Ok, maybe a bit exaggerated but here's one I saw with a huge front wheel (must at least 46")....

It's like a miniature penny farthing... except it has a chain and modern brakes. Neat.
