Bicycles: A sickness

The inspection crew for the movers showed up yesterday. They show up a week or so early to see what materials to bring, etc.

As we were walking around everytime the guy saw another bike it tickled the heck out of him. He was just about rolling when he saw bike number 9.

And I'm trying hard NOT to buy another bike before moving day shows up. Trek has a Soho with an 8 speed hub and belt drive. Saw one here briefly and almost bought it but it was gone next time I went to the shop.

Nine bikes and I'm looking for 10. Correction. I forgot I already staged a bike where I'm moving to. Eleven.

Edited to add: Six of them are folders.

I've got two cars that didn't cost as much as those 10 bikes.

Albeit, used cars in Japan are pretty cheap, car one cost $3500 four years ago and car 2 cost $800 4 years ago.

10 bikes, average price has got to be 700 or so.

I wish I'd have tracked stuff like gasoline savings and such. As it is I don't much care about all that but its good ammunition for fights with the wife about having too many bikes.

And truth be told she doesn't argue much about it. I tell her I'll sell them all, get to be 300 lbs. again and she can wipe my butt a couple times a day after the stroke.

I'm keeping one car during my upcoming move and am going to try to stay a one car family (at least until the winter). I'm reasonably certain I can run to work all during the winter.

Selling them can also be fun.
I discovered this before my last move.
Apparently, riding and racing a steel Bianchi for 17 years doesn't depreciate it one bit! Especially if you live in a big North American city that contains hipsters.

Bicycles - Collecting them as a hobby.

Bicycle collection is simply a hobby for me. I used to collect radio control toys before but when the Japanese used bicycles came in I got interested with the different frame designs and models that showed up. Restoring them was pretty a hobby for me. So far, I got a good number of collection. Check them out at flickr.com and search sancycles.
