London 2013 Bike Show

Bit of a disappointment, Bompton, Airnimal, Montague, velorution / republic, not much else for the folder fan, although the electric Go Cycle does look very sleek

I think the Eurobike show always looks more ritzy, what with Dancing Maidens, frites and mayo, and so forth. In Friedrichshaven, August, this year, if you like Zeppelin factories, schwimming in Lake Constance, a great drive to get there through Basle and Zurich, and access to unlimited schwarzwälder kirschtorte.

Why the Brits host 'The London Bike Show' in January when the weather is even worse than usual, everyone is broke after Christmas, and the roads are impassable with 0.5mm of snow is beyond me.

It's run alongside the Boat Show, you know, the one for the unbelievably rich, which is traditionally held right after christmas, and where you have to take your shoes off before they will allow you aboard. For the last few years it has also featured The Outdoor Show, which seems to consist of the worlds largest sales pitch for camouflage jackets.

Ah, I actually bought a boat at the Southampton Boat Show a few years ago. Being unbelievably rich back then got you into Other People's Boats without taking off your sneakers.

I'm half tempted to go to Eurobike, it's such a great blast over there. Last year:

Yes, it looks like a lot of fun, but you know, Switzerland very expensive, only the unbelievably rich can afford to eat, so better take food parcels.

Yes, but you can have a wet, miserable time in London for about the same price.

Ah! Diode! What price fun, at our time of life?

Hmmm?

Eurobike it is. Bring on the Dancing Maidens, and the funny cake with the cherry brandy in it.

Ah Germany, not Switzerland, no need for food parcels, curry wurst in a bun available at every railway system.

Maybe we could combine it with a visit to lake Toplitz, ideal terrain for your Black Jack Special.

Ya, I've done London to Fried-icksd-haffen twice by c*r, once in winter with a metre of sn*w. It's a great place to hang out. Biking around the lake is good. It's no country for old vegetarians, mind.

oink.
