Bought another Brompton (for my Father)
Took my father to a Brompton dealers and bought him an M-type Brompton.
http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/r...rompton002.jpg It was a B-Spoke order yellow and black with guards, battery lights and 2 speed gears. It was one of the last 2008 models and I think it is a nicer yellow than the current matt finish. http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/r...rompton006.jpg http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/r...rompton005.jpg http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/r...rompton011.jpg I am going to order the 2009 spec saddle and right hand pedal for him. He originally wanted an S-type Brompton but he now likes the M-bars. I still prefer my S-type, but I must say that this new Brompton is nice to ride. http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/r...rompton003.jpg We have been out riding through the local woods and he seems very happy ( photo is blurred because I was trying to take it while riding along). |
Lovely, your pop is a lucky dad. Cheers!

That is great! Looks nice and sporty.

Nice bike(s). :thumb::thumb:
Maybe you should buy him some Ergon grips too . . . ;) |
You were raised right.

I was a bit concerned that I could still ride any bike, much less my own Brompton, when I reach 65 or so. I am glad you gave your father his own Brompton. It made me more confident that I will be still able to (and don't listen to other people about what they think I should do with my life).
Great photos (even the one that is blurred). |
I am impressed with your gift to your father. Very nice and I am sure he feels honored.

I'm sending this thread to my sons.
[rubs hands together] :lol: |
Your spreading folderitis you know!

It looks like he has caught the bug..... I was browsing e-bay with him today and he saw something that caught his eye......:innocent:
A couple of hours later and I have another 1960s Moulton F-frame in the back of my truck.... needs restoring but he has already been striping the bike and cleaning parts.:thumb: He now wants a Raleigh Twenty folder as well, to use at the MOD range.... as a bike he can let other people use without worrying (the Brompton is deemed too nice for others to borrow). :D |
PDR, you are a cool son. A very cool one. :thumb:

Real age is much dependent on attitude and lifestyle. I know a guy of 86 who has just gone over to electric assist. He was riding an ancient three speed festooned with racks and gardening gear in this hilly city until four years ago when I gave him an old mountain bike with some lower gears. He still rides that one and only brings out the electric bike when he feels tired.
He served on the Atlantic Convoys as a stoker in WW2 and was torpedoed and had to abandon ship in the winter up near the Arctic Circle. |
