New member hub gear and bike advice please

Would the Dahon Nexus hub gear bikes (Vitesse, MUXL & MUXL Sport) be able to take a Shimano Alfine rear hub?
Only ask as I have a Dahon Cadenza 26" folder and the Alfine gears are brilliant. I have thought about buying one of the above and do not know much about Nexus as I do Alfine. The Alfine shifting is so good with such a good range of gears and I thought it would be perfect on a folder.
Do the hub gear bikes above have horizontal dropouts to adjust the chain wear or is it an eccentric bottom bracket like my Cadenza?
What are folders really like to ride as I've never riden one?
Are they good for distance rides ie above 25 miles?
Is there anybody bringing out a folder with Alfine hub in the near future as I think its a great idea on folder.
I heard last week that Simano are bringing out a 14 speed Alfine hub.
My girlfriend and I are looking at folders and we liked the 20" wheeled Dahon D7s the best. I looked into it further and noticed the hub geared Dahons which I think after my experience with the Alfine would suit her better.
Are there any web sites out there that deal with holidaying/touring with folders as thats what we are looking to do. I already do fairly long distant riding but my girlfriend has only just begun after years of lay off any advice for us would be much appreciated.

Nexus Premium and Alfine are internally 100% exactly the same. Only difference is casing because of the disk mount. There are older versions though, with bolt coupler instead of roller coupler. The latter is deemed to be better. Don't know which one Dahon uses in the 2009 models though.
