Unusual folding bike location sighting
 

Getting ready to move from Okinawa to Mainland Japan in just a couple more days. Took a car of mine down to one of the local ports for shipment to the mainland.

While there I saw a multitude of heavy mobile equipment such as cranes and several of them had folding bikes folded up and stored on them.

I'm going to surmise that once they set up to lift they're probably a ways away from a toilet, convenience store, lunch, vending machine, etc. and they use the folding bike for just such circumstances.

Anyway no great revelation, I'd just never considered folding bike usage in a construction type setting but it makes perfect sense.

Do you know where I could buy Birdy in Osaka or Tokyo ? Maybe you could provide directions like the nearest train station and how to walk to the shop. I will be going there for holidays and may want to visit bicycle shops. Problem now is that everything is in Japanese and nobody understands or speak English there. I believe you are able to communicate in Japanese since you are staying there.

in toronto downtown i saw one that looked more like a scooter than a bike

the tires were barely 5" at most, but it had its full size chain, bottom, sit, and loooooong handle bar.
the guy was tall about 6ft and riding it.
i was left jaw dropping and eye popping.
it was going at a pretty good speed, passing other bikers.

when folded, it's small enough to fit in your regular back pack!

but it comes with its own drolly wheels so that you can drag it like a suitcase cart.

the guy rode way too far for me to go back and ask him where he bought it from as i have never seen it on the websites.
