    Source For Quick Release Bolts?

I just installed a Bontrager seatpost beam rack on my Jetstream P8.

    http://www.bontrager.com/model/06971

The only thing I don't like about it is the bolt that tightens it onto the seatpost is a hex bolt. I would like to replace it with a quick release bolt to make it practical for folding.

I have already tried Googling for a source for quick release bolts, but haven't had any success. Does anyone know of a source for this?

    Thanks,
    Brian

Below are some photos of the Bontrager seat post beam rack I added to my Dahon Jetstream P8.
You can see that the clamp it uses around the seat post is held in place by one allen head bolt. This means that any time I want to fold the bike, I either have to remove the seatpost (with rack attached - not practical at all), or use a 5mm allen wrench to loosen rack so that seat post can be lowered. What I want to do is find a replacement bolt that is either quick release of thumb screw. The threads on the bolt are larger diameter than a typical seat QR bolt. I did not have any luck at the three LBS we have in Savannah. I am about to take it to Home Depot/Lowes and see what I can find.

On another note, I do like the looks of the rack and it appears to be pretty sturdy when attached. The beefy 34mm seatpost should be able to handle it. It is rated for 25 pounds.

Wish me luck on my hunt. If anyone finds any online sources for QR bolts let me know. I will post the bolt and thread size once I know what they are.

The bolt is a M6-1.0 that is 35mm long. It looks like some seat post QR are M6-1.0 and I should be able to make one work after cutting down the length. Now I just have to find one.

You could use 90-degree bent allen wrench tack weld into head the of the screw.

I can appreciate a good bodge, but I don't think that will work well in this case.

Thanks for the help. Someone on the Dahon forum showed me a Trek seat post QR that was similar to what I needed. The biggest problem with most seat post QR bolts is that they are only threaded at the end. I needed something that had much more thread. I went back down to the LBS and got lucky to find one of the mechanics. He went through their used parts bin and found one that will work. I will have to use a few stainless washers but it should work great.

Actually I am in the US (Savannah, GA). In our neck of the woods I would call it good ol' redneck engineering. I heard one of the brits use the "bodge" term, so I picked it up as well.

I will post pics of the finished redneck engineered bodge later.
