Dahon came out with the Midtown Mini line, which incudes the hammerhead and smooth hound, and adds on to this two more sharks: The bullhead and the silvertip. You can check out the specs at the bikeradar link, but the bullhead is the one that i like the best. Not only is it the cheapest of the lot, but it includes 7-speed nexus instead of a deraileur setup. That means the dropouts are horizontal, so you can also set it up as a single speed or a fixie.

I love that mini-Velo concept. Not, strictly speaking, a folder, but it's very useful size. My wife and I end up riding our Bike Fridays more than any of the other bikes in the fleet because they are (even unfolded) the right size to put in the car.

If you want your minivelos folding, you'll like the new dahon line. The new line has the lockjaw hinge similar to the matrix and cadenza models. that's right, no more ritchey break-away for these guys.

nice looking front bag. I wonder if it bounces around while riding. There's a nice thick gusset to reinforce the bottom bracket - that's new.

With the small wheels, front bag, the traditional frame and the hinged fold, this is nearly my ideal bike. I hope they offer a version with a premium geared hub, either the Nexus Red Band / Alfine or the Sram i9. A super luxury version like the SmoothHound with leather seat and bar tape, wooden front basket and rack, and maybe hub brakes would the ultimate leisure / commuter bike.

I gotta hand it to Dahon for trying to take the mini-velo concept out of Asia and sell it to the rest of the world.
The bikes pictured here and just shown @ Eurobike and Interbike are the third generation of product definition. Maybe it's finally the magic formula.

Scuse me for interrupting- what`s "Miniivelo"? I take it that means something other than little wheeled bikes?
I like this series, btw. I feel a definite temptation to check out some 20" wheels, but I`m not so hot on the superlong seatposts and stems. The bikes starring in this thread seem to be getting away from that periscope effect.

Minivelos are small wheeled bicycles with more-or-less standard diamond frames. They may or may not be folders.
As with every category of bicycle, the lines are fuzzy. I wouldn't call an Alex Moulton a minivelo, because Moultons have open frames - but as a practical matter the same functional attributes are there. How about a Pacific Reach Road? Hmm - fuzzy line!
Anyway, the idea is to have a bicycle that rides, handles and functions much like a standard bike, but is easier to store, park and transport. This obviously has tremendous application for folks who live in small apartments and crowed cities.

Also has tremendous application for folks who don`t need to carry a bike onto a subway, but would really like to stuff one into the trunks of their cars or check one at the airport from time to time. Just what I neeed 
I was checking out that Pacific Reach not long ago, as a matter of fact- a bit over my expected budget, but it looks awfully nice and the price does seem justified.

Is it a chain sweater, or a belt ? For the life of me, I can not understand why belts & IHG's have not become standard on mid range folders, not for top end performance bikes understandably, but for ones that people actually pick up and carry once in a while.
