Dahon seat pump - cap keeps falling off?

Hello, everyone--

I bought my first folder this July--a brand new Dahon Speed P8.

This morning when I arrived at work I found the cap on my seat pump was missing. This is the second seat pump cap to fall off my bike since I purchased it four months ago. Of course, it's now stranded somewhere along my route.

Does anyone else have this problem? I didn't see anything in the forums, but maybe I'm crazy. Dahon sent me a replacement cap the first time, but I don't want to have to ask them for a new one every three months. I was very careful when putting it on, but I did notice that it felt sort of unstable (if I turned it too far it would pop back off--almost as if the treads on the seat itself are stripped).

Anyway, just wondering if anybody else has this problem, or if anyone has any home fixes so that I don't have to keep bugging Dahon.

Thanks,
Tara

I have an MU P8 and I have not had this problem with what is presumably a similar, if not identical, seat pump. Probably it is stripped. Presuming that you bought it at or through a bike shop, you could also take it there.

If nothing else works and brakemeister or anyone comes up with a replacement, you could put just a bit of duct tape on it to keep it on.

Thanks, all, for your help. It's nice to know that this isn't just a badly designed product and that a replacement may solve my problem. I will take it into the store where I bought it and see if they're willing to help. I haven't been impressed with their customer service so far, but we'll see.

Vmaniqui--the first time this happened, I contacted Dahon directly and they sent me a replacement free of charge.

Thanks again!
