New year folder resolutions?

What are your folder related new year resolutions?

Mine are:

1. Ride a total of at least 1500miles (vs. 1100 miles in 2009).

2. At least one 75miles day ride (vs. 60 miles in 2009).

3. Sell the BF NWT (switched recently to a TSR 27).

4. Zero accidents (same as 2009).

I'd like to get through 2010 without getting another folder! :( Maybe even lighten up the current inventory...

Wouldnt mind seeing a report on your TSR.if you have time. Riding etc. Pros vs. cons. Thats the one they call Pashley Moulton??? Would you do a century with it etc.

1. Will do.
2. Yes, Pashley Moulton
3. I plan to do (eventually) a century with a 20" folder and the TSR27 is my prime candidate.

Happy new year,

Kam

Want to ride from Half Moon Bay to Santa Cruz and back? That's 100 miles and about 4,000 ft of climbing. I'll join you with my Moulton. We can invite some other local folderistas to join us. Now is a good time of year to do this ride, before the winds get too strong.

Average 50 miles/week on my newly acquired Brompton, lose aproximately 25 pounds of body fat as part of the bike upgrades (upgrade the rider), take more pictures of my folder, travel more, spend less on upgrades.

Hi SC, I don't think I am ready for a century. Also, with my riding pace, I will need longer days to do a century;-)

How about a shorter round trip from HMB, for example going south 25miles and then back.

Also, if you want to organize a fun folder group ride, we can do this one http://www.blazingsaddles.com/assets...SaddlesMAP.pdf It starts at SF near the ferry, goes through the marina, GG bridge, Sausolito, Tiburn and a ferry ride back to the starting point. This is a very scenic route, about 20-25miles, mostly flat except for the climb to the GG bridge.

Please make sure to do a "photo essay" when you go...they are always such a pleasure to read!

For me, I hate using the word "resolutions" (since I break 'em).

My goals for 2010:
1. Get more sleep
2. Get off my butt (or at least on a bike).
3. Have fun with friends.

I think that I should be able to keep up these goals. :)

[Oh, and build a guitar for my friend's wedding.]

Survive...:o

I am about half way to saving up for a Brommie, might make it before the end of 2010. I also need to thin the herd, but most of what I am selling off will be regular bikes not folders.:o

Aaron:)

I am a newbie here. I had a resolution to start my foldy when the sun of 2009 set down to the darkness, and this is what I got on the first week of 2010: a local brand, Bike-to-Work series 20" folding bike. Not bad for me to spend less than $300 in local currency.

It was originally sport a 7 speed Shimano Tourney gear with a non branded hub/freehub and 52T crank. I slapped a 9 speed Shimano SLX and to do so I had to rebuild the wheel with Shimano C-201 freehub I found cheap at the market to fix an SLX 9 speed cassette
The original seatpost also had to go for a Kore I-beam with rail adapter so I can put my favorite saddle a WTB Laser-V. The rest is as it came out of the box.

So far I have ridden my folding bike around town, to the groceries, and a 20 miles Saturday afternoon ride.
Next I am thinking to replace the crank with dualie to trick out hilly area around town.

airwulf 01-09-10 10:16 AM

Increase my weekly mileage and lose a few more pounds as a benefit; save to add another Downtube to my stable.

Abneycat 01-09-10 01:01 PM

Take better care of my Llama, go mountain biking more often (these two goals disagree with each other!),

and do that re-build I had scheduled for so long. Sending it back to Bike Friday to have disk brake tabs added, getting an LX trekking crankset, building new wheels, and installing the XTR headset I bought for it 6 months ago finally.

I wonder to insert an attachment ... Sorry for a cellphone quality picture

1.figure out how to get the Swift into and out of the suitcase...
2.get on plane to Austin with bike...
3.ride from airport to SXSW...
4.rock the hits...
5.ride swift to kindly cousin's pad for sleep.
6.ride back to airport...
7.fly home with bike.

A photo essay would be nice. If you plan on passing through Christchurch, actually meeting a fellow BFer would be better.;)

gnome 01-10-10 02:34 AM

My resolutions. I have none. I guess the sensible one would to not buy any more folding bikes and do up the ones I have instead.

Though I do like Kam's resolution of zero accidents.

Are you a member of warmshowers.org by any chance?

(My itinerary does not include CC at the moment but is in a state of flux. ;) )

No. I may have to look into it.;)

Dynocoaster 01-11-10 09:40 AM

Bought a new Bike Friday at the end of 2009 . The only folder I would like to get this year is a Dahon Uno.

Standalone 01-15-10 11:40 AM

Take the Continental Town and Country 2.1's off my espresso, and put on Studded Schwalbe Marathon Winters on!

I failed to do this and had to scrap the ride today-- after my black ice crash / broken elbow I promised myself that I wouldn't ride questionably icy roads. Got a few blocks away, and saw the thick sparkly frost on everything, pavement included.

Just watch, though-- this weekend, I'll make good on my resolution only to find that the wet and cold is over for the season...
