I find it a slight puzzle, this rolling while folded. Whenever rolling my bikes, they aren't folded because they roll best like that. So jogging to get to the train, not folded, definitely. When shopping these days, I just wheel my Brompton through the supermarket as is, only parking it while selecting goods off the shelves or when getting to pay. The only time I roll my Brompton when folded is when shoving it under the workbench for storage.
So am I missing scenarios where wheeling a folding bike is not possible?

- In the subway during peak hours (it's against the law unfolded)
- In nearly all federal government buildings
- In a wide range of office buildings
- On the bus
- In grocery stores (you must live in a very special place)
- At my bank
- In a number of buildings at my university
- In the airport

about that nyfti folder in the philipines....
dammit why do they have to keep inventing something soo ingenious as this!? I really want one but i'll be killed by the wife here! That looks like it'll actually roll really well with you just dragging it along with the handlebar. And that bottom tube design added for strengthen the overall frame design is really well thought out. Hopefully if they do ramp up production they don't ever cut the quality of this because 250lbs weight limit is pretty damn impressive!

Just off the top of my head, places in DC where I am not permitted to unfold my bike, but where I'm allowed to wheel about my tikit, folded, with no questions asked.

Jur is in Australia. So it might very well be a special place. I largely concur with your list of places that will prevent a full bike entry.
Today on the way to work, I saw a person with a Brompton carrying their bike outside the Metro's gates and then unfolding the bike toward the elevator. And this was a person with a rear rack that generally rolls better while folded than other configurations.

Is this thing really snagging on the chain while folding and pulling it out of the bounding box of the bicycle? There is no way this can be a good idea.

Bike Friday Tikit, you roll it on its front wheel, the rear section, when folded, forms a Handle to do so.

I have a Oyama East Village. It rolls on its drive wheels after folding, and so it's quite convenient to manage even though it weighs a whopping 16kgs unladen.

Hello
The Tikit is the ticket! Hands down. As Bob says Rolls on its front wheel, balanced, with a nice padded handle. Rolls on its front wheel, rolls on its front wheel. Not the smallest folder...But rides well, rolls well and folds fast, thats ticket.

Sure, regularly at Harris Teeter and Trader Joe's. Also Target. I note that apparently it also works at Fred Meyer in Oregon.

Rolling while folded seems to be a requirement at extreme ends of the spectrum for some folks. Discussed a lot, from what I have seen. For multi-modal commuting it is very important versus carrying longer distances and through buildings/office space.
If I commuted it would be important.
For non-commuting I don't find rolling while folded a need. When I ride DC Metro I can actually pedal within 40 feet of the escalators. push roll to the top of the escalators, (out of the way) and FOLD UP. Then it's down escalators. about a 100 foot walk, through turnstiles, then down another escalator to the train platform, where it is carried, at most, another 100 feet.
At the other end of my Metro ride, pretty similar getting above ground, short walk to escalator, through turnstile, up the final escalator to daylight. I'm able to get out of the way quickly, Unfold and ride out.
I haven't been through a lot of the DC Metro Stations with the folder, just a few. there may be some that require longer walks, and maybe longer walks getting out of crowds to Fold or Unfold.
So far, so good. For anyone thinking of visiting DC and bringing their folder, DO IT! Very easy, have never been hassled, not even glanced at.
For those who need and use the Roll while Folded option, what are the distances involved when you are rolling?

Oh ... I was unclear. I meant, have you tried getting a full-sized bike into a supermarket. I've taken my tikit into a local Safeway and Giant a few times.
FWIW, I doubt they would allow it. But to be honest, I am not entirely sure.

My Trader Joe will not allow bikes, folded or not. They have ample bike parking out front so they consider it unnecessary. And, to be fair, it's always crowded there.
