How to get a Dahon Curve to stand up when folded, with the seatpost extended

I had the bike for a year and half before I figured this out.

Before folding the bike, rotate the non-driveside pedal so it's facing to the upper right. Using a bungee cord is advisable; if you don't, the pedal will press down on the fender.

Voila! The bike will now rest its weight on the driveside pedal.

It's more stable if you leave the pedal unfolded, and it's a little picky if you're not on a level surface.

a quickr pickr post

Or stand it on end on the rack also works well + small footprint. also works with a Diblasi,or a mezzo at a push.

When I stopping with the seatpost up, its usually a short stop. I just end up standing on the driveside pedal to keep it upright without having to hold onto it.

Unfortunately, that puts weight on the rear fender (if you have fenders, of course).

Here's some info that might be useful:

The product info for the original Dahon version:
http://www.dahon.com/components/daho...tand-kickstand

The Dahon kickstand is indeed pretty hard to find. But other brands are plenty available. Unfortunately, most of them are meant for 24-28"wheels. While the length at the shortest setting might be ok, it could stick out below the bb quite a bit.
I've heard that the Pletscher double Kickstand works with Dahon folders well too, as it doesn't stick out that much. It is not really adjustable, but can be cut to the correct length. Thor USA even has it listed in their Dahon Accessories section: http://www.thorusa.com/dahon/accessories/pletscher.htm

I have a spare one of the Dahon Doublestands (lightly used. black version) I'm willing to sell it but I think Shippingcost from the Netherlands to the US would be quite high. So it might be better to check out other options closer to home first.

I'm actually fine with the bike the way it is. I need to carry a bungee cord in any case, as the bike no longer holds itself closed reliably.

when you say not closed reliably - is it because of the magnet not holding up or due to its usage some frame flex occurred ? just curious as i also have a curve d3. i want to make sure it doesn't happen to my d3, too.

looks like the accessories on the bars are interfering.
