dahon glide vs jack d7 for long biking (30km+ in a day)

It was time to upgrade the wife's walmart special to a big wheeled folder so we can stuff it into a car or hotel room easily without people noticing. We also wanted big wheels for stability since smaller wheels are twitchy in her mind.

But my main question was which would be the better distance ride if we are to do a 30km+ ride in a day, this would be for a non daily cyclist. The glide has some 24 inch wheels which I might find unconventional when sourcing some nice tires but it has a nice internal hub, she finds the bike cute but i'm not sure how it'll go in a long day with it. While the jack D7 uses a common 26 inch wheel so sourcing for tubes and wheels can be done anywhere. Weight differences between the two would not be much of an issue since I plan to install a fender and rack on the Jack. Their gear inches are pretty much the same range so it would be ok on moderate hills and downhills are mostly coasting. I chose these two cause the cost would be around and under 800usd for either one even with add ons for the Jack.

I've tried the cadenza it was a very nice ride but the lockjaw hinges turned me off a bit needing an allen key. And the reviews i've read about needing some tinkering to get that joint right else you might end up wearing out the teeth was scaring me.

what are you thoughts guys??

Let her test ride both. I'll bet she picks the Glide. It has an upright riding position and a step-thru frame. :)

keep in mind it seems always the same three people with problems with the hinge, while literally thousands have been sold!
In any case
If the wife likes the GLide, splurge and get a willow basket and frame mount for it and she will be all happy and stylish as can be ...
If you like the more macho Jack .... go for it ... However, check out the new Espresso Baltic .... I have them in stock and they are absolutely gorgeous ....

would be a great bike for her as well .... although nothing looks more european than the glide or the ciao ...:-)
