    Bought a Raleigh Stowaway

Purchased from the second owner. The first owner brought it over from England. The LBS sticker is from Woking. The SA hub has the year as 1974. I spent an hour cleaning it and put a Brooks saddle from a Raleigh Superbe I had. The grips were also from an older bike. The tires were just replaced. I also received the owners manual and tools

Thank you, it is in great condition and now I dont have to rebuild my twenty which started as a frame. I think I will give that one away.

Looks nice, I was bidding on a couple of those on FleaBay but they went past my price points. I don't have any with the 451 rims on them, so far all of mine have been the smaller 406 size.

what's the difference between R20 and stowaway?
Food for thought: if you aren't dead by 2050, you and your entire family will be within a few years from starvation. Now that is a cruel gift to leave for your offspring. ;)

In Oz, Raleigh Stowaways have 22" wheels and Shimano 3 spd hubs.

    In other places a Stowaway is a non-folding R20..... I think?

I am under the impression "Stowaway" meant it could be folded and stowed away.

I believe that the Stowaway was a UK model. They also called the Twenty the Shopper. The names varied from year to year. I have seen R20's from 1968-1977 based on hub dates, there are a lot of small differences in them>

They're not a R20, but a slightly bigger bike, basically the same frame shape, and as I said before, a Shimano 3 spd hub.
I bought a very nice one for a friend for $15 au...... if it was a R20 it would have sold for at least $200 over here.
