No, really, this IS a GoBike in the Wild!

I tried to cycle the Monsal Trail in the Peak District of Derbyshire, despite asking at the local Tourist Office, the trail was very difficult to get onto & then stopped at a closed tunnel 2km further on, The alternative route involved carrying my bike & bag down a steep hillside with large rocks then taking it along stepping stones along the River Wye, a bit further on, I came across some climbers, who told me that I would need to :-

(a) strap my bike onto my back & climb out of the valley, or

(b) GoBack (sic) the way I came

I said "Well it was bloody awful & very difficult the way I came"

" If you think that was difficult, try going further this way!" he replied

So I had to back track and then ride up (& down) the very twisty & dangerous A6

Here are some pics of the pretty bits :-

I really don't think that trail was for bike, but you aren't one to follow instructions anyways eh?

With my propensity for self injury & expensive bike damage, my 57 year old brain is finally starting to control (some of) my silly ideas. Thus, I resisted the temptation to 'bunny hop'! LOL!
Would really like to do the World Naked Bike Ride this weekend, but it's the day before I go back out on tour with 'Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel' and it's a 6 hour return journey to London if I take a folder or 4 hour return in the car, if I take the Long-John (then there is parking & conjestion charge) I'm in Brighton, Cardiff & London a few days before each ride, Grrrr! Very frustrating!
One of these years, I'll be in the right place at the right time ( )*( ) ( @ )( @ )

It's a lot quicker to get to Southampton than Brighton?

Even more maddening, I'll be in Southampton late on Saturday night, parked overnight near 'The Brook' ready to take steve Harley & Cockney rebel to Isle of Wight Festival on Sunday, probably arrive too late to get a beer
