I like the mango color. So what is your first customization of the new Tikit? Does ithave a flip flop hub?

Why do you have a brake on the rear?

No flip flop hub...IMO single speed is the worst of both worlds...only one gear and no benefit of bike momentum pushing your pedals through the power dead zone. I have already made some changes including 3 different uses of my hacksaw [somebody at Bike Friday is cringing when reading this!]. If the Dutch win the world cup I'll have the perfect bike to commemorate the occasion...

I don't know ask Bike Friday's lawyers... I've taken it off. I wanted to document the bike stock before I did anything to it. It also came with reflectors front and back...they got taken off before I put a saddle on it!....

Cog = 14T, Ring = 54T, Gear Inches = ~65" - right about what Sheldon recommends for general purpose riding and about the same as my Surly 1x1 fixed gear.

The rear hub is indeed a flip flop hub...although I won't be using it for that purpose. It's not branded so I can't say whether or not it's special at all.

Surprisingly I've found I climb really well on a fixed gear...no knee issues and I'm always the first to the top...and I don't feel like the overall effort is any harder. So far I haven't had to walk, but I am riding an unloaded bike - no cargo.

Calgary has had the Ice sheet from the last ice age flatten things a Lot . Astoria Oregon Is one big hill, with a street grid laid over it.
Columbia, Big River, No Delta, at it's mouth is a Bar (several in town Too)..

Calgary downtown is flat, but half the city is on top of a steep escarpment so if you go back and forth between them you have to climb a lot. If you stay in one part of town you can avoid a lot of hills.

I'm actually living in Victoria BC now...I guess I need to update my info on BFs.

I'm not in Vancouver...I live on Vancouver Island though in Victoria...the weather here is quite a bit different than the PNW...and I hope to be in Baja Mexico kiteboarding during any winter storms...

It's cheaper for me to live in Baja than it is for me to stay in Canada. Camping on the beach is free, food is cheaper and I have no other expenses. I can work from the many internet connections there for free. You don't have to be "well off" to live in a tent in a dry river bed.

My housing plans change depending on what is going on...I have moved my stuff into storage at my boss' barn and gone to Baja for 4-5 months...last year I kept my place as I was only gone for 2 months, but it was still cheaper to be in Mexico because my day to day costs were so low and I didn't pay any accommodation costs there. Nobody I camped with was wealthy or living extravagantly....they just made that part of their life a priority and found a way to work out the details.

That's Nice ,
I gotta stay where I can keep Glaucoma meds in a steady stream or permanent blindness sets in, will be 63 this fall I'd rather avoid that
Veterans Administration keeps the meds coming.

It's a pre paid plan I paid during the Viet Nam war era.

I like Victoria and you have a lot of island to bike on. If you get bored take the ferry over to Port Angeles and bike to Sol Duc Hot Springs.

Hey Vik, does this mean you have 2 Tikits now? I thought you said in a recent thread that you wanted to reduce your fleet
