Beer run

Here is my new Dahon Boardwalk. Took it for a beer run tonight!
The green thing on the handle bars is a flashlight. Its held there with bungee cords.

Ive finally learned how to attach pics. This pic was taken on a dull day indoors with cheap camera so bit fuzzy.Pic taken with saddle at full height.
Its my Brompton s/s (S1E) with B17 saddle,Allo Haber stem extender,Ergon2 grips and S-bag mounting block installed.
The Allo Haber extender gives 2" of extension in any direction you put it. I have it straight up at this point due to sore back.

ddez,

Your bike is a piece of art. I have recently acquired a S2-E and I am waiting for the Allo Haber stem extender to arrive. I might go with Bull horns, but if that doesn't work for me, the ergon2 grips are my next choice. At the end, our bikes will look like two sexy sisters!

Dahon Flo 26 in MTB folder/breakaway

The Flo doesn't fold but it fits a suitcase and is quick, light, and fun.

Thanks, cant wait to see yours done. You can really stretch out with the extender. You will of course need to use longer cables. I used Jagwire Ripcord, very smooth, could swear it stops better with them on. Cables are compressionless. Ill be watching for updates on yours.

Here is what my Pacific Reach looked like when new a couple of months ago:

Here is mine, after 1500 miles, 1 accident and some mods:

The video dock still needs to be finished, im using the docking of a broken tripod I had at home:

£20 Campagnolo Mirage brakes, had to be modified slightly but they work great!:

Great, another Reach just like mine I have done about 2000 miles, the rear Primo Comet is on its way out, will replace with Schwalbe Duranos (not much choice in the 451 wheel size). I don't want Comets again as they are not very good in the wet IMO. At about 200 miles I added a second chain ring (42T), etc. as I found the gearing too tall in the hilly Cornish countryside but I have had no issues with the OEM brakes, now fitted with Koolstop Salmon blocks which work well and I am informed will reduce rim wear. Following Sheldon Brown's guidance on chain replacement I have just replaced the chain: I fitted a Wipperman Intrax 808 which works well.

I absolutely love the bike now, it rides so well and the handling and responsiveness are so good, 60+ miles rides are easy. Mine has mudguards and the rear rack, on which I use a Carradice rack pack, and the only other mod is the Brooks B17 Narrow saddle I have put on it which is superb. My last small wheeler was a Moulton APB and whisper it but I think the Pacific is the better bike .

Nice looking ride. I just received my red 3spd yesterday (bought on ebay) and have a few questions.

What changes have you made to your bike?

Is there a max height to raise the seat tube? I do not see any markings on my tube to indicate min/max.

What is the recommended oil for the rear hub and what's the service interval? My bike is a bit noisy in the rear when pedaling and a little stiff in changing gears; I believe it's low on oil. I'll be taking it to LBS after a more thorough inspection and cleaning.

FYI, My hub is marked 86-5; the serial # is lightly etched inside the fold hinge but it's almost unreadable.

You should post your questions along with a photo of your bike on the Dahon forum. There is a lot of good Dahon experience there.
https://www.dahon.com/forum/index.php
- Max seat height - I don't remember if the older seatposts have max marks on them or not. It may be in the manual. There is a link to download it on the Dahon forum if you search around the posts.
- The best reference for servicing Sturmey Archer hubs is the Sheldon Brown website. Just google to find it.
- You may need to service the rear wheel and crank bearings also.
- I think from your hub markings you would have a 1986 0r 1987 bike.

Actually to be fair the Comets seem to have got grippier as they have worn slick. Went out yesterday for about 45 miles/ 70K on wet roads and had no issues.

Hello All. I have a Dahon Getaway V that I picked up off Craigslist real cheap and in excellent shape. Has anyone had experience upgrading from a 3 speed? Oh and my other bike is a Specialized Allez A1, Double with Shimano 105 group. Cheers!

What are you trying to upgrade? The Getaway V was a 5 speed. What 3 speed are you talking about? You should post this on the Dahon forum. https://forum.dahon.com/index.php?act=idx

You are right I am a total DORK. I just looked at the rear-wheel cassette, 5 speed. So I need to upgrade my large chainring to something bigger...though not sure it will be possible. Just need to be able to keep pace or in front of the buses in town. Thanks for replying.
