Are there any removable SPD? I use detachable MKS clippness, but the cleats are not compatable with SPD.

Picked up another classic Dahon at a yard sale today. I haven't looked at the serial number yet, but the SA hub has a date of 86. This one definitely needs a little TLC. The only thing I can tell is missing is the front fender stay.
It also came with functioning Radio Shack FM AM Radio Horn combo. Haven't seen a bike radio since I was a kid.
It also came with the original manual and some other documents. I will scan them if I see anything new.
Here are the before photos.

I also found this Peerless folding bike with 24" wheels. It is superlight, but seems like it is designed with pretty decent (but slightly dated) components.

I will probably find some stiff wire and fabricate a fender stay. I haven't decided what I will do with the bike yet. Depending on the condition of the paint, I may even repaint it like I did my wife's "Englished" 3. Maybe I will go with a Georgia Tech Ramblin Wreck theme. That would be cool since it is currently a hated UGA Bulldog red and black right now. GO JACKETS! TO HELL WITH GEORGIA!

I had a biz trip planned for Philly so I checked their craigslist before travel and found a great deal on a 2008 Curve D3. I brought my bigger suitcase and some tools and scheduled for the seller to meet me at our office. The bike is in great shape except that the front tire developed a flat just after he arrived. I still bought it. Once back at the hotel room I was able to test the seatpost pump and it worked great. I did find a small pinhole in the front tire tube. Just have to get it patched or replaced tomorrow. I am looking forward to getting it to fit in my suitcase before I leave in a couple of days. The bike has the owners manual and touchup paint and the recalled handlepost has already been replaced.
I am looking forward to adding it to my stable of folders and testing how well it travels.
Just finished dry fitting the disassembled Curve D3 into my suitcase. The outside dimensions of my suitcase are 27x18x14 inches. I had to remove both wheels, rear fender, rack, pedals, and seat from seatpost. I also pulled the handlebars and upper handlepost out of the lower handlepost. Below are photos of the dry fit. I started with the rear wheels and fender. Then I strategically placed the handlebars between the bottom of the frame and then place the rack above the handlepost hinge and placed the whole rig into the suitcase. Finally I placed the front wheel in. I still have room to place the seatpost, seat, chain, pedals, and tools in later. Now I am going to pull everything out and add some protective cardboard and bubble wrap where needed and repack.
This particular suitcase would not be ideal if I decided to travel with my Curve. I will probably look for one that has more appropriate dimensions. I think this will work well for getting it home safely. It helps that I am a Delta Medallion member, so I won't get charged any baggage fees.

The Curve survived the trip in the suitcase just fine. Just took if for it's first Savannah ride and was very pleased. I put the Pump seat post on my Jetstream and installed the regular seatpost on my Curve.

Here's my folder, it's a fairly normal cheap Apollo folder from Halfords, except it has an SA 3-speed, Shimano brakes and toe clips. PICT0006..jpgPICT0005..jpg
This bike was sort of born out of my desire for a folding bike which rode reasonably well, coupled with my inability to afford a Brompton.

I've been a reader for many years and must confess I have an addiction.
I've owned quite a few different bikes including: Dahon Mariner, Dahon Jack, 2 swift folders 2 alum (1 fixed), downtube FS. I currently own a brompton 3 speed, dahon curve d3, pacific reach SL, Steel swift (fixed) and a newly acquired moulton tsr 9 that I'm in the process of converting to fixed.
I loved the freedom bikes brought when I was younger and since moving to NYC about 5 years ago I've rediscovered one of my passions.
Sorry the pictures aren't great. I'm selling the pacific reach SL so if anyone is interested and lives near NYC let me know!

We had about 300 bikes participate in the Savannah Bicycle Campaign's Earth Day Wheelie last Sunday. It was a very cool 1.5 hour police escorted ride zig zagging through our historic district. Folders were well represented with my Dahon Jetstream, a Dahon Speed, some 1970s vintage folder and a Dahon Classic III.
The only one that made the cut in the photos they posted was the Dahon Classic III.

My new bike.
I just returned from a trip to China. They had a Giant Bike store right down the street from my hotel. They had a variety of different folding bikes made from Giant. So I bought the Tallerway 8.0 RD. I rode the bike a short distance when I got home and it was a blast.

FYI, this classic Dahon doesn't has front fender stay! very classic! great found and just some good wax will bring it back to shinny stage!

A couple of months ago I picked up a Daahon Curve D3 while on a biz trip and was able to bring it home in a bigger suitcase I had. Well this biz trip I scoped out the Philly CL and found a 2007 Vitesse D7 with a lode of extras. However I didn't bring a larger suitcase with me. Now I have to hit the thrift shops to find a big suitcase to pack it as checked luggage with no fee.
Just got off of the SEPTA train in Philly with my new 2007 Dahon Vitesse D7. It was even a better deal than I thought. The bike looks pristine like it came straight from the LBS. For $250 I got:

Hi all, I just bought a used downtube 9. I plan to strip it, clean it, replace the brakes and shifter, derailleur with xtr's. Will probably replace the headset to cane creek, and maybe the crank if I can find or adapt a good one from my parts pile. Anyone have some idea's for upgrading the quick releases?
