The saddle is called "Anatomic 412" which I got at the Eurobike for my Carryme because I wanted to try a saddle without nose fore storing/folding issues...but its not on the bike any more, I could not stand the missing control a nose is giving.

Here she is. Her name is 黑公馬 (hēi gōng mǎ) or Black Stallion in English. Picked her up here in Taiwan for a very nice price. Just nuts the markup that goes into shipping / taxes for bikes made here and shipped to North America. This puppy is only available in Asia though.

Wanted a folder that would fit in the trunk of my wife's compact car, so we could carpool to her work and I could bike the ~2 miles farther to my work. Also, since I typically take the bus home, thought it would be handy to have a folder in case the bus's bike rack was full (which is the case about 50% of the time at the stop where I get the bus at UCLA). Looked at a $600 Dahon in a bike shop, got scared away by the high prices.

Ended up buying this 26" folding mountain bike for $130 new:

Sure, it was mass-produced in China, and a few of the parts are cheaply made, but after about $100 spent at the bike shop, I had a well-greased and well adjusted gear shifters and brakes, new town-and-country tires (mainly using it for commuting on asphalt, so didn't need the knobbies), flasher night-lights, and an under-the-seat gear bag.

Works great! It's a big-box bike, so it required more adjusting than you'd expect from a nicer brand bike you'd get at a bike shop, but at around $200 cheaper (at least), I don't mind learning how to fix up the bike myself, not at all.

As for the original intention: It's still a large package when folded, but it fits easily into the trunk of my wife's compact car (a Suzuki Aerio). I usually use the bike racks when taking the bus, but the folding-feature has already saved me 20 minutes one night: instead of waiting for the next bus when I saw the bike rack was full, I just folded the bike and carried it onto the bus. I stood up with the bike perched on my feet, so as not to take an additional seat or get in anyone's way, but it was still better than waiting another 20 minutes just hoping that the next bus wouldn't have a full rack.

I recently ordered 2 MIAMI citizen Bikes 6-speed folding bikes. Weight is 32 lbs. I expect them to be delivered today or tomorrow. I just discovered this web site today, and was disappointed to read some posts what some had to say about this bike. My wife and I are new to bike riding, we wanted these to take with us on our RV camping trips to the beach and campgrounds. I know we are out of bike shape and otherwise, and will have to work our way into better shape. We are in our early sixties, but we do consider ourselves in good shape for our age, not overweight, non-smokers, etc. So, we are hoping this will turn out to be a good decision. One reason we bought these bikes was due to price, $195.00 for each one. Seemed fair enough. We had no idea there was so much information on foldup bikes on the internet.

My question is does anyone out there actually own one of these bikes and are satisfied? We are hoping it can't be all that bad.

Hi all,

I have not seen anybody reporting on the MR series of Giant bicycles. And that is exactly the bicycle I ride:

It uses 24" wheels on an aluminum frame. Total weight, 10.3 kg (nominal). The wheel base is almost 1 meter: 0.966 m.

I think the riding position is very good. A quite efficient roadie! The MR-4F model comes with flat bars.



On the negative side, folding is not always that easy, and the bag is not cheap (but required to ride the train in Japan with a bicycle).




Does anybody out there use any of the MR series?

Thank you for the compliment.The MR-4R is indeed quite fast. Its main inconvenient is that the folding routine is not that simple.

But this model seems to be limited to the Japanese market only--I have not seen it on any Giant website for other markets.

I have a Dahon Speed Pro TT (2008) and LOVE IT! It flys and is very comfortable to ride. It definitely requires a bit more tender love and care than a typical bike, but the convenience is just amazing. I can take it on the Metro or commuter train any time and I often take it into shops with me. I have been exceedingly happy with it. The only thing I did was install some Kool Stop brake pads to give me a bit of extra stopping power, especially crucial during this time of year.

ive got the nexus 8 speed hub for now, that works ok, although i am saving my pennies to eventually replace it with a rolhoff
i am also building up an alternative fixed gear wheelset to use around town, with an eccentric rear hub
this is a really nice bike! (if I may say so myself)
