Bike with S&S BTC's = "Folding" Bike?

I've just shipped off my new Surly CrossCheck frame to Bilenky Cycle Works to have S&S couplers retro-fitted - this counts as a "folding" bike doesn't it? Can't wait to get it back! I will build it up as a light touring/travel bike. For now I'm going to build it up with what hand-me-down components I have laying around and get some entry-level stuff to fill in the gaps (Shimano 105, seatpost and headset from loosescrews.com, etc...). As a benefit I'll be able to store it under my bed and take up as little space as possible in my apartment! If I like the way the couplers work I may have them built into my next bike - probably a custom steel frame. Who else has experience with a bike equipped with these things?

I like the idea of having the couplings on a steal frame for travel purposes. I think in the end, you'll keep the bike upright because it takes a lot of work to "break apart" the bike while removing the wheels and getting your hands dirty with the chain.

I dunno... I'm pretty mechanically inclined! I spoke with Bilenky today. Since they'll be touching up the paint after they're done, they offered to do a nice fade with a different color. The frame is all red now - any suggestions for the other color?

I would say a bike with S&S couplings would have to be called a separable.
