RE: 2 BF Tikits Stolen in Bay Area SF
calling all members: 2 TIkits stolen in San Francisco Bay Area in the past week. are they targeting the Tikits now? i guess they now know how expensive these bikes are: pls keep an eye on these bikes and help our fellow folding bike riders.
also keep an eye on your TIKITs.....
Not just the Bike Friday tikit, but any bike that is in ridable or pushable condition is subject to increase interest and theft by both amateur and professional ones (anything from underage minors to multi-thieves theft rings). Even the older folding bike is now in more danger-http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?689127-Raleigh-Twenty-Auto-Mini-older-folder-prices-not just new ones as their monetary value climbs with speculation.
There are many reasons for this:
- Economic downturn
- Current "Bike Craze"
- Staying fit craze overlap
- Cheap transportation
- Many people who buy bikes who don't care where they came from & don't ask questions
- Overworked & understaffed law enforcement
Which means to all of us here is: Keep watch and help each other out!
It's got electrolytes!
Hide your daughters, hide your wives. People be snatchin tikits left and right!
I seriously doubt it.

Besides, Tikits aren't really that expensive. Carbon fiber bikes usually start at $2000, often hit at least $3000, are more common and more in demand.
Bike theft can be devastating (in this case, a single speed):
