Another redo? North Woods Folding Bike

I guess I'm a gluten for punishment because I'm thinking of doing another redo.

This time I'd like to try a folder with more speeds than just 3. This folder is a low-step one too, However, I never heard of this folder - a "North Woods". (See image below. Not actual bike being sold on ebay*)

Advice welcomed since I'm a newbie on ebay and redoing bikes. The seller isn't saying a lot about it except that it's a "great ride".

Is it worth it?

*Yes, I changed the link.

If you enjoy cleaning up and upgrading older bikes, why not? I think this particular project will be worth your time and money. It appears to be in great shape nevertheless. If you have room in your apartment, pick it up before someone else does. You don't have to start right away. I already cleaned up several older bikes counting the Raleigh Twenty I finished just a few months ago. I have found these projects enjoyable and challenging to say the least with minimal costs involved.

Decent looking bike.

Folder Fanatic: Likely no Northwoods bikes in L.A., but highly recommend Clearman's Northwoods restaurant in San Gabriel and Santa Fe Springs (and maybe still in Belmont Shores and Covina, too???). The Steak Sandwich and a Dark Beer are GREAT!!! Wife and I first ate there 45yrs ago! Too far from you to get there on a folder, though.

FF - Thanks for the feedback. I've already contacted the seller about the shipping price which is higher than the cost of the bike. If it can be lowered, than I think I'll buy it.

It is indeed very enjoyable to redo a bike. And yes, I have the room for one more bike once my Dahon Speed D7 is sold. Yes, I'm selling the brat. We're not getting along.

This time I want to try this redo on my lonesome with a strict budget. Based on appearance though, it looks like I may not have to do much except get folding pedals for a neater fold but appearances can be deceving and I may be getting "a hot mess" of a bike.

Gonna ask the seller more questions about the gears, frame, distance from seatpost to handlebar, etc. before I committ.

Lou - FF gets a whole paragraph and I get three words???? What the hell???

Thank you for mentioning Clearman's. I don't live too close to San Gabriel, but I do go through there from time to time (either on public transit or yes, even passed it on my all of my present & previous folders as it is easy riding distance from the Gold Line light rail's last stop). I have passed by one of those restaurants-the one located on Huntington Dr. & Rosemead Bl.-I am not sure which one it is. I will stop in (with or without the Brompton) and check out the steaks (I love a good steak periodically).

Well, I won't have to wonder about buying the North Woods bike because it's gone. The seller either withdrew the item or someone met the asking price or gave him an offer he couldn't refuse.

I can't complain. I have two sweet bikes. My trike Bertha and Sybil, my R20. I have big plans for both of them in 2011.

In the meantime I have a few non-mechanical bipeds that need stocking stuffers, etc. HO, HO HO!!!!! Gotta go!!!!
