Stainless Steel Dahon
Someone gave me an old 3speed Dahon, Stainless. i was thinking it might make a good commuting to-the-beach bike since its stainless, although its a little small. Im 5'8" 130Lbs. If i upgrade the tires how fast can i go on a stainless Dahon? Should i get something bigger?
thanks!

Fast .. is all about the work you put into the pedal.. the air resistance cannot be bought off..
Cannot lobby to have the laws of physics not apply to your particular case..
buy all stainless bolts and attached parts and you can lash it to the deck of your yacht.

The qualities of stainless steel will provide at least 2-3mph gain over any other frame material.

Check out the date code on the serial as well as the Dahon forum forum.dahon.com. If it is a very early Stainless, it could fetch decent cash. You can also sort of date th bike, but the date code on the SA hub.

Fast.. is often confused with mechanical efficiency .. rolling resistance.. Etc.
you have to work at the pedaling to be fast , it is not a commodity to buy.

I just took the stainless for a spin and i was pleasantly surprised with the SA 3speed.....decent acceleration, and to me, it felt similar to a Brompton....i might just have to keep this one BTW, i think its a late 80's E-3
Thanks for all the advice!

If you want to see some cool old literature regarding Dahon Classics, take a look here.

I even have a couple of manuals you download.
