Just got a tres cool S-type six speed with the rack and wheels. I neglected to get a flasher. Easy to mount a headlight, but I'm trying to figure out where I can put my spare Planet Bike Superflash without messing up the folding or the rolling. Or should I just knuckle and get the Brompton flasher?

why not the seat post? it will be just about 1/2 inch for the wrap around so the seatpost will be just that much higher when dropped, but that shouldn't greatly affect the fold.

i think anything on the rack or side will get knocked about in the fold.

My stock Brompton seatpost doesn't have a clamp but instead just tapers down to a smaller diameter at the top end. To install my PBSF, I loosened the saddle clamp, moved the clamp up a bit to make room for the flasher mount, and then tightened the saddle clamp. Then I installed the bigger of the two included flasher mount (with thick rubber spacers; the smaller one won't fit at all) on the thinner section of the seatpost.

This makes the flasher slightly harder to get in and out of its mount but I don't usually need to do that much anyway. On the other hand, the flasher is completely out of the way and I can draw the entire seatpost down when folding the bike.

I have a flashing blinkie strapped onto my helmet. That way, it's with me no matter which bike I ride.

Well, the super flash certainly fits on the seat post, but it won't let it drop far enough for the end of the seat post to stop the bike rolling around on the easy wheels when its folded. I'm loath to give it up; it's a great blinker. I'll try to move up the whole clamp, as in the pix. An elegant solution.

If you need a roller stopper at the end of the seatpost, try getting a properly sized cork from a hardware store. It works better than bare metal on ground most of the time and it's quite cheap.

This is how I mounted a Cateye on my Brompton using the optional cateye bracket ..... I have obviously removed the original factory fitted reflector.



... and on the front I adapted the belt clip that came with the lamp to fit in place of the original factory fitted reflector.


Both work really well, add very little weight and don't get in the way of the fold or get bashed when the bike is folded. They have been on the bike for nearly 2 years now.

If you've got a rail-type saddle, you can loop zip ties around them, then hang the Superflash from the ties by its belt clip. An X-actoed section of a ballpoint pen cap can also be zip-tied to the front-facing part of the belt clip (at the v-shaped section), to keep the blinky pointing level.

I have this setup on my M3R, and it works perfectly.

In case anyone encounters this thread, just wanted to report that Planet Bike's rack mount set -- about $7 -- fits the tabs on a Brompton rack just fine. Took the tabs off the rack from the top, attached the mount at the highest point, and reattached. The Superflash just fits over the fender and doesn't drag when the Brompton is rolling folded.
