What should I do? (considering selling my Moulton Bridgestone)

As some may know I own a rare Moulton Bridgestone Custom Sport. (This is the none separable sports version) I bought this from Avon Valley in August 2009. I rode it a few times and covered no more than 50 odd miles in total before crashing a motorbike and busting my collar bone and ribs quite badly... so August 2009 was the last time I actually rode this Moulton and it has been stored in an upstairs room ever since. I have the Brompton and I'm happy with this as my day-to-day commuter.

My focus has changed and I'd be more interested in a folding mountain for occasional rides along trails (disused railway lines etc.) rather than a racing road bike.

It is a shame to see it stood there doing nothing so I guess I should give someone else a chance to own it..... really a very nice bike to ride, full suspension, drop bars, nice components...... and of course it draws the attention of other cyclists.

I added a lightweight bottle cage and a black Brooks Swift saddle after these photos were taken. The colour of the bike looks black but it is actually a unique Richard Greasby purple.

I'm having the same issue with a straight bar schwinn hornet I have. I love it but I never ride it. I've decided to let it go since I don't see myself putting it to use anytime soon.

I say sell it. If you're not using it, let someone else take advantage of it.

It's a beautiful bike, I'm sure you'll find a good home for it.

Ha ha. I was just reminiscing - the last time a BF poster came on and said he wasn't getting much out of his Moulton, it resulted in quite an adventure for me -

Yes, I do recall...... I wanted that TSR and you beat me to it :D

SesameCrunch 03-19-11 05:52 PM

Yeah, you would have gotten there faster too!

What a great adventure that was.

Indeed! It inspired at least one other adventure that had a happy, Moulton-ful ending. :)

I think I asked for that

Now if I'd said I was thinking about a Bike Friday, Airnimal Rhino or a Montague / Swissbike.... but not a Dahon, then I'd be accused of picking on Dahons yet again :D

I looked into those whilst I was trying to deciding on buying my TSR2 or not.

Lovely looking bike. I doubt my old bones could cope with the drop handle bars though :(

For small wheeled bikes, suspended front and rear, Moultons really do have it sorted in terms of comfort.

Regards

Jerry

Just an update....

The bike sold on e-bay last Monday with Buy It Now... (900) and the new owner took delivery last Thursday (according to the TNT tracking #)... I hope he is happy with it because he has not contacted me to say either way

SesameCrunch 03-28-11 07:17 PM

Congrats on the sale. I hope you don't miss it too much. I always regret parting with my bikes. I just hate to see them go :(

PDR 03-30-11 02:06 AM

Guy has left me good ebay feedback and sounds happy with the bike :thumb:

I probably will miss it but I didn't get to ride it much..... I know I'd badly miss my Brompton if anything happend to it....
