How to wrap Bike Friday STI/Dahon Speed Pro TT-style bullhorn bars?

How to wrap Bike Friday STI/Dahon Speed Pro TT-style bullhorn bars?
Or, more generally, how to wrap bullhorn bars w/ standard road-style brake levers?
I recently put bullhorn bars on my Xootr Swift, recyling my Tektro road-style v-brake levers from the drop bars I'd been using previously. (There are, to my knowledge, no v-brake compatible reverse levers.) I like the aesthetics of bullhorns on the Swift, and I also prefer the hand positions they provide for city riding -- I can vary my amount of reach while still having the brake levers at my fingertips, whereas on drop bars I can only brake from the forward-most position.
The problem is, I couldn't figure out how to start the bar tape cleanly. I'm wrapping from the ends to the center. The brake lever bodies are all the way at the end of the bars, so there's no way to get a complete wrap before needing to cross the levers. I ended up with a nasty kludge involving two short strips behind each brake lever instead of just one, but it's sorty of bulky/gappy and loose at the end.
Surely somebody on this forum has Bike Friday's STI touring bars or a Dahon Speed Pro TT, both of which have a similar setup, and has wrapped their bars at least once and/or noticed how they were wrapped from the factory. Tips please?

Here are pictures of the wrapping of my BF STI handle bar (have it on both of my bike, both wrapped by me). IIRC, the tapes came with short pieces (about 1" each) and I placed them on the joint point from the outside (you can see a part of it in the red circle) before I wrapped the main tape. Make sure to stretch well the tape while you wrap it. I used Performance Bike house tapes, nothing fancy.

Yea wrap over the open end , and stuff the excess in when you fit in the bar end Plug.
reverse levers, you have the brake cable housing to wrap over,
but its possible to put the lever in after you tape,
as you put the cable in the housing
