Anyone know if these (https://translate.google.com/translat...%26prmd%3Divns) are available anywhere outside of Japan. They look really nice!

Ok...want. I'm gonna try my hand at welding one like that. It'll probably be utter fail, since I'm just starting to learn, but it might be a good learning experience.

There's a Shop in Glasgow, Scotland, hand makes a pannier rack
that clips on the front block .
But, You can load a lot of stuff in the Touring bag,,
toe strap around the frame handle to the steering mast makes a good brace.

You know which shop does this? I might be interested if I pick up this used brompton I've got my eye on...

That shop is probably Kinetics. They do a lot of interesting stuff, including an 8 speed hub kit for the Brompton.

Hi New to the forum. Anyone know how much weight the nitto rack is rated for? I assume steel is stronger then the aluminum stock brompton rear racks rated at 10kg. thanks

I managed to get one (fake copy) for about US$75 - had it for almost a year and never used it once.

NB: They will ship it internationally to You. [Nitto is a Japanese company, after all]
this one will take 2 standard Panniers https://www.kinetics-online.co.uk/fol...-pannier-rack/

Personally I have never heard of a Brompton rear rack that broke in regular use. I would think that if it happens it is becouse bike was dropped or stuff dropped on the bike (like in air travel). The stays of the rack is not super strong but they are easy to replace.
There is also at least one TI option for rear rack. Not sure about strenght but should be lighter.
A front rack like the one you linked to is also sold by "bikegang" on ebay. You`ll find him in this forum too.
Keep us updated, especially if you buy something "not standard".
There is TI luggageblocks you can buy for the B too. Not sure about strenght compared to the nylon one. Keeping the bolts tight is important to keep flex at a minimum and avoid material fatigue in the bolts. We have heard of bolts breaking

Ah, Recent name change To Perennial .. Still in MN.. as a Brompton dealer they have both , ask them.
the B rack has 4 struts the Nitto rear, 2
(looks like it was Made to pop on L model Bikes , R model uses a different rear mudguard. rack provides mudguard support too..
I suppose the way the original one sloped bothered them , so the substitute is level. .

"We have nothing against the Brompton rack, but when it comes to strength and durability the hands-down victor will always be Nitto.
Brazed Cromolly (Nitto) vs cast aluminum (Brompton) are the materials used to make the racks, and cromolly is significantly more durable.
From our point of view, if you’re ordering a B-Spoke bike, then the Brompton rack saves you a fair bit of money and is a pretty good choice, but if you’re ordering a rack to fit onto a currently owned Brompton, then the Nitto rack is the way to go as they cost difference is minimal and the Nitto is a pretty special peice of hardware."

The best available rear rack for Brompton seems to be this one
from Tokyo Loro Slow, apparently custom made for them. A friend got it included in the package when buying the Brompton from them and he just marvels about it. Unfortunately, standalone at 31,000 yen, it is well beyond what I can ponder.

A cheaper rear rack is available from Brombacher in Korea:
Light Weight Rear Rack for Brompton - 377 grams - Brombacher
Looks like to a good option that can installed for touring, and removed when riding in the city (although it appears lighter than the Brompton rack). As to why Brompton never offered such a product…

@ Winfried: Nice rack. I decided to buy one, especially since they promise free international shipping. Going trough the buying process I suddenly find they want almost $ 33,- for shipping..

"Shipping (Charge) International Shipping Fee"
"Merchandise $45.00 + Shipping $32.13 + Insurance $2.38 = Total : $79.51"
"Please be aware that shipping charges do not include international taxes or duties (fees)."
All this just for a a few, bent aluminum pipes

The crazy thing is that it says "free shipping" trough the process, even after telling them what country to ship to... until it is time to actually pay...
If they want us to pay for shipping that is fair enough but then they should tell us that straight away.
In my search I have found racks that is much more expensive to ship than that. I think some of them compensate for a low price on the item with high shipping price.
