    Anyone configured a swift for touring/everday loadcarrying

    Hi all. I am speculatively thinking about small wheel touring. I have a speed TR, and would love a NWT, but the price of the latter is eyewatering.

    I was wondering if anyone has configured a swift - either a xootr or the steel version - for a touring bike, and if so whether they might share some pics and suggestions ?
    it aint the size of your wheels, its the rhythm of you cadence. And I got powergrips too.

    I can't recall right now, but there is one member of the forums that used to haul his kids around with his swift. If I can remember, I'll post again.

    If it will take a SRAM Dual Drive hub, you're good to go,
    one chainring, as 3 speed hub replaces the triple crank.
    has a 9 speed cassette on the external drive.
    older dual drive was a 7 speed, made by Sachs.

    The SRAM Corp who made a gripshifter at the time ,
    bought out Fichtel Sachs, German based company.

    I put a small Nashbar rack and a basket on mine for everyday use. I bet with some work you could fit a rear rack too. My Swift (older steel one) is fairly stiff so it seems like it would handle a touring load just fine. I tried a NWT (only briefly, though) and I liked the handling of the Swift much better.

    The Swift will take a standard rack for the back, and has the same heel clearance as a regular bike. Bacciagalupe has toured like that when he still had his. AFAIK the rack will not affect the simple fold. The front rack attachment can be in either the lower seat clamp or the seat stays with P clips.

    thanks everyone. One appeal of the swift over the NWT is that the fold is much quicker, which is areally good thing about my speed TR, eg when hopping on a bus or train at short notice. Has anyone knowledge of front racks/luggage loading ? These pix seem to suggest it can carry the weight on the front. I have emailed HPM to ask about rack options, so will post more if they say there are any. Otherwise, any further contributions welcome.
