Action Line BMW folding hybrid bicycle - Montague

    Hi
I just bought this bike, it is quite a nice ride, it could do with front suspension - if anyone could advise which type of forks threaded, unthreaded diameter etc etc. blimey I didn't know there was so much to know about changing forks!

Also if any one has any information about this type of bike I would appreciate it. I read somewhwere that the originals were made for the German olympic team by BMW in conjunction with Montague, but this model has 700c wheels not 26 inch wheels - so I don't know. Any ideas?

    Thanks

I think a photo or two of your bike might assist people to give you help.

There was a BMW "folder" on UK ebay, maybe still is, it looked just like a hybrid, I could see no means of folding from the photo !

Yes, here it is, says it has 26" wheels, but they look bigger to me.

    Hi Diode100

The picture looks the same as my bike, but mine definitely has 700c wheels. These are early Montague Folding Bikes, I am pretty sure the guy who sold me it didn't know it folded, I didn't until I got it home. I wondered why the bottom bracket was 3 inches up the down pipe, there are 2 clamps and a pin - slacken the clamps and slide the pin up and hey presto the whole frame folds in half using the down pipe (don't know the correct name for it) as a hinge. To complete the operation the front wheel comes off along with the front mudguard which has little lugs to clip onto and the front forks turn inwards. I found a forum over the weekend that says the Fork steerer is only 1 inch not the usual 1 and 1/8 inch, which means getting suspension for the front forks could be a problem. I will take some pictures shortly and post them here.
