Dahon Classic III help...

Can anyone explain how to remove the crank for this bike? As far as I know the crank is one piece but it has wheel that props it up when folded that gets in the way of removing the crank. Simple answer might be to remove that smaller wheel (see picture) but I don't seem to have the right tools for that. Is there something I'm missing?
