    Which tire for my Moulton?

    It looks like there are four choices for the 349 tires. Kojacks, Marathon 420's, Panaracer Crosstowns or Primo Comets. Experience? Suggestions? I'm running a set of Marathons on my Raleigh 20 and have over 1000 miles with no problems.

    I would go with what you know. I have the marathons on my speed P8. Great tire.

    Bromptons have 349 16"wheels , I thought Moultons had a 17" wheels, APB 406 wheels ..

    A lot of Moultons run 349s, though it's hard to tell why some were 17" and some 16" from the factory. 17"s were definitely used on the hopped-up racing speed models (With tubular tyres no less).

    For fast tyres, [if you can find them] you can run Pr!mo 'Champ' tyres - you need skinny 349 rims (ie Velocity Aeroheads) but they are less than an inch wide, super fast and pretty hardy (I've never had a puncture with mine on my superlight brompton). These are supposedly weight restricted wheelchair racing tyres, but I love em and have had no problems (though they are a bit tricky to fit - very taught clincher wire).

    Regular F Frames on sale to the public had 16" and mini/midi models had 14". Spaceframe models had the 17", for which I believe that there is only two types of tyre available, (if this is the model that your query is about, you would be better asking on the moulton forum), and all the Pashley built models have 20" wheels as far as I know..

    It depends on the type of riding you will do.
    For city/winter riding the marathon is probably best. Panaracers are ok, but not a very quick tire.
    I found primo comets to be very quick - probably the lowest rolling resistance out there. Kojaks are similar but IMO not quite as quick.
    The primo comets are very prone to punctures so probably not a day to day commuting tire.

    At the value end the brompton 'yellow' own brand high pressure tire is decent with reasonable puncture resistance.

    +1 for wire beaded Kojaks (I carry a folding one as a spare). I am astounded at the difference these have made in weight and speed on my Brompton.

    I had been running with Marathon Plus previously, terrified of punctures but the Kojaks have proved themselves to me. The wire beaded ones are also great value.

    All that said, probably not so suitable for anything other than smoother surfaces. Ideal for me commuting every day across the city.

    I took Dynocoaster's advice and went with the Marathons. Next year when I upgrade the rims I stick a set of Kojaks on them. I couldn't find the primo champs but I'll keep looking. Thanks.

    when I got a pair of Moulton F about a month ago the first thing i did was relaced the dunlop steel wheels with brompton alloys and went for the Schwalbe Kevlar bead Kojaks these are high pressure super fast and light tires the Marathon Racers are also great I love them on my R20s very supple ride. the Primo's ain't that bad they are very light as well but I think not as well made as the Schwalbes I have a pair of them on my other R20 and the sidewalls disintegrating already barely used.

    Panaracers are highly rated but haven't tried them on a small wheel bike. on my full size 26" bike they are great high quality casing and rubber compound but not as thick as the Marathon shcwalbes as they are built for lightweight

    It isn't just the Stratford Moultons on 406s. There are several models of Bradford-built Moultons running 406 tyres (e.g. New Series models).

    Its a Huffy badged 1964 F frame. Just got the rear fork back from the boat propeller welding shop today. These guys know all about thin metals.
