The Arvon Separable is Complete

Met with Arvon today and he brought the newly finished separable touring bike in to the city so I could look it over and admire more of it's fine craftsmanship and design and take it out for an all too brief test ride.

Although it is not a folder it does ride on 20 inch wheels and breaks down into a package so small as to defy belief... am sure this will interest a number of touring cyclists as well, but the idea for this started here in the folding forum.

It has been a great project that has taken the better part of a year to complete as many aspects of the design are new and we were held up a little due to medical issues but seeing an idea born and come to fruition like this is why I want to build frames.

I will post some photos shortly and am sure that when it gets to its new owner he will also want to post some pictures of his new Arvon as well.

Stay tuned.

This expedition worthy bicycle fits in the collapsible aluminium case next to it... the case dimensions are 20 by 20 by 12.

very nice!
do the racks detach or fit into the case as well?
the brakes look like hybrid between calipers and v-brakes? would fenders fit in?
love the platform area for storage and carrying.

The rear rack collapses flat and the V brakes are Cane Creek Direct Curve 5... these have enough stopping power that we use them on tandems and they have enough allowance for fenders.

The rack has a second lower rail for panniers so that top loads do not affect their removal or ease of opening.

looks good! Can you post detail photos? Seems like to fit in the small case, you have to disassemble the top and downtube as well.
Do you have a photo of the bike in the case?

Okay ! Yes, lets see it in the case. Nice to see a new design going on.
Looks like a good one.
