That looks pretty slick. How does it compare as a lock compared to say a Fahgettaboudit?

shooting out of the hip I say half the weight, similar price.

The Ueber Safe locking monsters are maybe 5% less likely to be broken. But even they can be futzed around with, if the thief has the knowledge or is tenacious..... But thieves are usually pretty dumm and lazy....than a couple years back all Kryptonite locks could be opened with a bic pen ... and and and
its all in the eye of the beholder

As I cannot take my Dahon to the stores and most of the time don't feel like folding it and hauling it to my office, I lock it with Kryptonite New Yorker lock. Yeah, it's heavy, but my bike can handle it :-)

Yup. All locks can be broken. I just used the kryptonite as a reference that I knew would be familiar. Thanks for the info.

Mini U lock in my back pocket. I lock the bike frame of my Speed 8 to a solid pole when I need to leave it outside.

I'd like to know about this mini U-lock that a) can go into a back pocket b) is not so heavy it wouldn't drag that back pocket to next to your ankles.

OnGuard Bulldog Mini. Pretty cheap, maybe $15, and good enough for coffee stops and shopping. I wear a belt and jeans and have no problems with it sagging. In shorts I hang it on the bars. I like the back pocket because it is comfortable and super handy.

With my Kingpin I use a cheap but substantial looking armoured cable lock when around town or a tiny insubstantial cable lock from a pound store when touring. My bike is not going to be a major target for bike theives as its a 36 year old shopper frame and is customised such that it would be hard to sell and easy to identify as mine.

ditto. i have the mec magnum version of the mini lock, and the cheap plastic housing has broken off, so reveals a sleak and slender lock. fits into my jean back pocket, no sag or stretching. quite convenient.
compared to my NYFU, if will bring that on days I know I will have to leave the bike outside for any extended period, that is if i also know i cannot bring the folder inside with me. can't carry the NYFU in back pocket even though the size is almost similar to the magnum.

Krypto's Evo Mini is even smaller than the Bulldog Mini, and will easily fit in a jeans pocket. Although I like it a lot, it is way more expensive than the Bulldog (which I have also used) and is small enough that my big-tubed Swift can't easily be Sheldon-locked to some racks. Standard staple racks are just doable, but any rack with tubing that is more than a couple mm larger, or odd-shaped, is usually out of the question.

The Bulldog is a lot more versatile than the Kryptonite because of this, but it's still far smaller and lighter (and presumably less vulnerable to leverage attacks) than a standard-sized U-lock. Probably what I'd go with if I had to do it again.

Abus Steel O Chain, seems quite good, I hang it over my handlebars, so it's handy.
More security, the chain goes around the rear wheel and the frame, [R'off keeper]
then I lock the Abus Bordo Granit , link lock around the post and the frame.
that Lock fits in a pouch, on the Bike Friday top tube.. using it's waterbottle mount.

We tour on our Bike Fridays and always carry one Kryptonite lock and a cable. We lock them together with cable through all wheels (hopefully to something like a tree or picnic table) at campsite, or when we leave them in hotel's storage room. During the day we don't leave them unattended, since they have all our luggage on them and it's difficult to lock them together. I think we'll get those little locks that lock the back wheel so nobody can roll them away, just for piece of mind.

No lock for me. I take my Tikit in wherever I go with it.
