Brompton bag on a Dahon?
Hi!
I have a Dahon Vitesse D7HG (2011) and wanted to get a front luggage for it. Unfortunately, the one I have found that really seems to fit my needs is the Brompton's C-bag, but I don't really know if can manage to get it installed in my Dahon.
From what I managed to check the Brompton has two holes in the front frame, while my Dahon has three holes. My hope is that two of the holes from Dahon will fall in the same distance as the holes in the Brompton Front Carrier Block (Part# QFCBA). But I am not so sure...at least I haven't found anyone that actually used this block on a Dahon.
Still, can anyone with a Brompton send me the specs on the distance between the two holes that are in the front frame and the size of the screw hole, if possible?
Or if anyone that managed to install such a block in their Dahon, could reply, even better.
Thank you in advance!
Pete

There is Klick Fix mounting kit made for Dahon's fittings,
getting some of those bits is an easy fit.
their Vario bag frame seems adaptable to strap all sorts of bags onto.
the 'match pack' bag incorporates a ring to klick in to the same handlebar bag mount system.

The Brompton luggage system is rated for much more than the Brompton luggage, not sure what is the weak point. If you fold and unfold the bike a lot the front carrier block on the Dahon is sticking out quite a lot and is a weak point. I agree with fietsbob on the vario bagframe but I would mount it on the stem (or the seatpost), not the handlebar.
You could make an adapter but it is going to cost a minimum of £ 37. Only worth it if you have both Dahons and Brompton if you ask me.
There is a clickfix "thingy" you can screw onto any bag that is stiff enough https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/altura-kl...ton-prod15471/ The Brompton bag is ment to be used with a frame so it would not work without quite a bit of work.

Making a piece to bolt on the frame, with 4 holes, 2 for each pair,
26 straddling the 15, is certainly possible.
Know any small machine shops around yourself ?

I'd have it made of steel. countersink around the 15 apart holes,
so those bolts are flush, and thread the 26 apart ones..

Hi everyone!
first of all thank you all for your replies and suggestions.
I did do some search and had seen the Klick Fix system, but in the end, for me, the c-bag from Brompton was the only one that actually fitted my needs and likes. That is why I was asking the question about the compatibility of their adapter with Dahon bikes.
Still, it seems that it is possible and just requires some modifications to the carrier block (thank you badmother, I didn't manage to find that first post you sent..I guess I was to specific on my search..but it is really interesting to see everyone ingenuity to have these kind of problems solved).
Fietsbob, thank you for your suggestion...making an adaptor piece would really make it look very professional, but unfortunatly I have limited (if none) access to small machine shops around me (actually, I just moved abroad and still have to know the city a bit better..maybe I can find one in the future). Still, as badmother suggested, that option would probably be a bit expensive to have it done.
Meanwhile, I thought, what if I just create an extra hole on the Brompton carrier block to make the holes 15mm apart, ready to be fitted on a Dahon? I don't actually have seen the Brompton carrier block live, but do you think that is possible? If it is possible, I think that would be the best/easiest option for me to be able to have the C-bag on my Dahon.
Once again, thank you all for your help.
Cheers!

Below are two examples from my Bicycle Hobo collection. The Giraffe Print one was already constructed and I simply adapted it for any bike use (in this case a Dutch City Bike). The Beaded Bicycle Image bag was one I designed and sewn myself from scratch and is hooked directly on my Brompton's handlebars, rather than it's luggage block.
