Where to buy a Brompton in Canada or the American north-east
Hi all,
I am on the verge of being ready to buy a Brompton M6R (maybe an H6R once I'm able to test drive one).. Now that I've finally decided on a bike, I just need to decide where to buy the thing.
I'm located in Toronto, Ontario and am willing to travel into the states by car if it makes sense financially.
Last year I bought a Surly Long Haul Trucker and posted a similar question about where to buy in the Touring forums. One of the suggestions, Century Cycles in Peninsula Ohio, was where I ultimately purchased the bike. I saved at least $200 by doing this (including gas and hotel stay).
Now that I 'm ready to buy a Brompton, can anyone suggest a store that they've had good luck buying a Brompton through? I don't expect to save money by buying in the states since Brompons are manufactured in the UK, but a solid store with good service and lots of stock would be great.
Here in Toronto we have 1 Brompton dealer I am aware of, Curbside Cycle. I have just sent them an email asking for a quote and will reply here when I have one. Unfortunately, they don't have their 2012 stock yet (or any 2011 stock left) so I won't be able to purchase from them for at least a month.
Also, has anyone ridden the new H model Bromptons. I like my bars to be at least level with my seat, if not slightly higher. At 6'1 I fear without the H stem that may be impossible.
Thanks in advance!

I am in Toronto and bought mine from Curbside. You missed their once a year sale at the end of November (20% off in stock Bromptons) which is why their stock is so low. However, they generally have plenty in stock so when they arrive, you should have a good selection.
For other dealers, in Canada, there is a dealer in Montreal and then way out west. In the US, there are many in NYC but that is quite a drive. There is also Harris Cycle near Boston which is a very well known bike store - again, quite a drive.
A few years back, you could have saved some money by going to the US but the prices have been adjusted so that it is only a bit more expensive here now.
Never seen an H model yet.

Damn! I know, unfortunately I was not prepared to buy a Brompton during the Boxing week sale. Also, I was interested in trying the H type before I decided to buy.
NYCE wheels may be my best bet depending on the quote I get from Curbside.

I had the same experience. A good number of the dealers listed turned out not be dealers at all.
