    BF kickstand bolt replacement

Where can I find a stainless steel replacement bolt for my Bike Friday kickstand. It rusted after a brief exposure to rain.

If you take the rusty bolt to a hardware store (as a sample), they should be able to provide a replacement in stainless steel. Places like Ace Hardware keep a pretty good selection in stock.

Don't know where you are located though.

Local Ace Hardware worked for me. I did such a replacement early-on on all four Fridays. You can purchase 8mm, SS Hex bolts for like $1.50 ea. I also have replaced all non-SS hex bolts on the bikes, too. (Good advice above; take old one as a sample.)

After returning from 2 1/2 yrs of living at the beach in So CA, I am also going to have replace the QR's on my NWT. My rides in the early morning mist to get a newspaper took a toll on them.

Industrial and Marine hardware stores too..
When you put it on a boat, stainless steel is what you get.

I priced a few equivalent parts at the West Marine over in Portland - things were considerably higher. Goes with the definition of a boat as, "a hole in the water you pour money into"...lol. (Thor should know about that one.)

We are very lucky, I guess. We have Parkrose - Ace Hardware nearby us in Vancouver, and Burk Electric - Ace Hardware in Ocean Shores. Both are very complete stores. Even my wife likes visiting the hardware store...lol

FYI: At the coast, plastic and/or SS are a must!

might just be a OC problem, seems common on this Site,
car wax the problem area to slow the rusting .

it's part of being alive where there is Oxygen.
and minerals we need to live.
