I think you meant 'boardwalk' and not 'broadwalk'...

Measure.. If you have the broken spoke the inside of the hook is one end, the end of the threads is the other ..

Hi
first measure in mm .... lay the spoke on top of the ruler with the bend on the 0... obviously most rulers have a border and the 0 doest start at the very end .... Anyhow... read the mm..its most likely around 180 mm more or less....

You will need to be pretty sure about the correct size ... 1 mm difference is ok.... 2 mm is pushing it ... 3 mm too short or too long is not cool ...

make sure that the spokes in you wheel are the right size.... for derrailleur wheels the driveside spokes are usually shorter than the non drive side spokes, front wheel spokes are usually the same length ( except when a disc brake is involved ) but they differ from the rear wheel spokes...

Thicker ( 13 g or 2.3 mm ) is not necesary stronger .... you will usually need 14g or 2 mm spokes. For a Boardwalk you need regular non butted spokes and brass nipples. Butted spokes are much more expensive and not needed. Having said tha we do offer our strong spoke which is 2.3 mm on the bend and 2 mm otherwise .... its a great spoke for electric wheels... ( not necessary because its stronger, but the thicker neck sits tighter in thehub and doesnt wiggle around .... )

dont think that if you buy a longer spoke or longer nippel it doesnt matter... the threaded part in the nipple is 9.5 mm the threaded part on the spoke is 10 mm ...

always replace nipples with the spokes

its worthless to replace with anything else than stainless steel spokes

better to replace all spokes than only a few.... due to the looseness ( the reason the spokes are breaking, usually at the bend ) the other spokes are weakened as well.

New wheels, on new bikes, or rebuild wheels, NEED to be re trued after a couple hundred miles in order to give years of service ... dont do the needed maintenance and after 1000 miles or so you will see loose spokes and resulting breakage ....

Best Thor

You can try asking Dahon here https://www.facebook.com/dahonfoldingbicycles

If this does not work, you can try the Tern forums. The ex-dahon people there may know the answer.

If you do it yourself, search youtube for 'bike wheel truing' (without the quotes).
