mini-velo specific thread in Road Cycling forum

I hope you folks don't mind, but I started a thread called Mini-Velo Reference Thread over in the Road Cycling forum, because I felt-- and this is no disrespect to the folder community which has graciously hosted the most active mini-velo discussions-- that mini-velos have a home in road riding discussions, too, and that maybe a little more exposure in the more heavily trafficked forum would be good for the category, as well.

Anyway, here is the link, and all mini-velos are welcome!

Cool, I think minivelos should have their own subforum even if they aren't popular...yet.
It doesn't take a genius to realize minivelos have many more benefits than the single drawback of more jarring pothole runover to regular 700c bikes.

I would suggest you change your title to "20" and smaller wheeled bikes".

It's silly over there. This is a far saner place. One of the two or three relatively sane boards on the larger board, along with Classic and Vintage and one or two of the others.

Fixed the title. Thanks for suggestion.

Truly. That thread is probably a goner, but I wanted to give it a go anyway.

C'mon, folks. At least post a few pics over there. Those people don't even know these bikes exist! You don't have to say anything or engage those idiots, but just a pic...c'mon!

I swore I would never post there. Hate to break my oath.

Plus, I hate to disparage an entire board, but they're idjits. Your thread is just more proof of the obvious...

Yeah, I didn't realize how bad it was; until recently, I spent most of time in the Commuter and Utility forums. The Road forum folks, as the saying goes, take the cake, though, when it comes to blowhard know-nothings. I think they must be mostly teenagers.

The folding thread is not only one of the sanest threads on BF; it's one of the sanest threads on the internet.

While I love riding around in the city and for speed/time, for whatever reason I've never liked the roadie crowd. Bunch of Lance Armstrong wannabies that scoff at any bike that isn't a road bike with a carbon fiber fork. Look at all of the grief given to that GMC Denali that was ridden for 6000+ miles or the guy who traversed the American landscape on a NEXT bike.

Besides, my mini velo is quirky and fun. I stopped caring about what others thought about me after I graduated from High School.

Iīve been asked tons of time why would I waste my money on my velo, and all I can say is... BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT I WANTED. I totally agree with you guys, the folding thread is an example of how a forum should be, and you all make it the way it is. I donīt post too much, but I do read, so... Thanks!

I've never quite understood why people get so up in arms about what I do with my money. I haven't bought a home and yet I have people telling me that I'm "wasting my money on rent" meanwhile people that I know that bought a house when I was looking (in '07) have lost hand over fist on their property, not to mention the amount of time and effort and work a house requires to maintain. I wanted a mini velo because I wanted to learn how to fix bikes and because it's different. FFS, I should start questioning every purchase people make as well.

"Why did you waste so much money on your car, all it does is depreciate?" UGH!

I really wish we had our own sub forum. Posting over there in road doesn't seem right, but neither does posting here in folders.

I just finished my second mini velo build, a Sillgey Piccolo, and it's by far my favorite bike yet. These things are just too much fun.
