OK, now figure out how far apart the production facility buildings for the actual bikes are ..
isn't Sir Alex's place Bradford upon Avon?
Brompton is in part of London. so they are not that far apart,
but not up in North Yorkshire, by a long ways.

In terms of engineering and design, I'd say metaphorically that they are miles apart. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but they've taken two very different paths with their bikes.

106 miles: would make a lovely century, through the Cotswolds, I'd route around Reading though. Maybe a big day for the HPFBS 2013 season?
You could even do the whole thing on a narrow boat, or in a canoe. https://www.dwrace.org.uk/
(Brompton is just up the road from me ... actually between me and Mulleady, I think)

Dr Moulton and Andrew Ritchie actually met when the Brompton was in the first stages of design in Andrew's flat but Alex left without taking up an option to assist with manufacturing. Its all in the Brompton bicycle book written by David Henshaw.
I own two Moultons a recent TSR2 (20" wheeled) and a 70s Raleigh Moulton Mk3 (16" wheeled). I also own a Brompton. For me the perfect bike would be the 16" wheeled Brompton/Moulton hybrid that folded like the Brompton but had suspension back and front.
I have attended one of the Moulton BOA events and as you say the house and grounds are stunning. I hope to visit the Brompton factory soon but that may never happen
Regards
Jerry
