Nice Bikes.

Are those 451 wheels on the Soma? They look slightly larger than the ones on the Nano.

The Alton Fixie has that size wheels and I don't have any experience with 451 so am curious about tire choices, ride quality and such.

I like 451's, though the SOMA's tire are ~65psi (Kenda) while my Friday runs ~110psi (Schwalbe Durano). The Nano's wider tire has more "bite" and is closer to a cruiser or bmx. I'll probably swap-out the SOMA's tires sooner or later to a higher-pressure version. Frustratingly I'm in a huge work crunch this week so have been challenged on having time to put the mini through her paces properly! And traveling on the weekend. Maybe I'll get a good ride by the time the San Francisco "Tour de Fat" comes 'round

Thanks for your reply. I can identify with your frustration about work and not being able to ride. I have a brand new Alton Fixie at home that I have only ridden for about an hour. I got in on a flight late last Friday and left very early that saturday. Still have an other week on the road before I can go home.

My Alton came with 100 psi Kendas and they ride very nice. I was actually surprised how fast the little bike feels, but such a short ride whilst a bit jet lagged is not a very reliable test.

I've been riding the Nano the past couple of days. I have to say that straight out of the box (so far, the only upgrade is brake pads) the bike feels planted on the road like no other. I don't think it's that fast but I feel like it is just such a little hammer. In a good way. The Soma much lighter, more balanced, but the Nano feels like it could take on the world. I may end up a BMX rider yet.

Are these bikes available in different sizes? I'd sure love to see a 451 mixte.

This one and this one. Don't know if it is 451 or 406 though.
