Moulton - whats going to happen now?

I'm wondering if we'll now see some more innovation and experimentation with the bikes.

Sir Alex obviously wasnt too keen to embrace disk brakes or Rohloff/Alfine hubs. I'm sure he had his reasons, but I never read/heard them expressed so am unsure of the reasons.

I'm also curious as to why the TSR27 went away from the APB's wider tyre clearances. This has made me keener to refurbish my APB frame rather than investing in a TSR. The trail surfaces here in WA that I've seen seem to benefit with wider tyres (IMHO). My APB I think can stretch to 2.1x20 (from memory) if I remove the mudguards so I definitely not impressed with the TSR27's max of 1.75 sans mudguards or 1.6 with the fenders.

    What says you?

I think Shaun Moulton has been at the helm for some while now, so business as usual i would expect.

As to AM not being keen on Rohloff / Alfine, I recall Shaun Moulton muttering something about "all that undamped weight" when shown the AVC Rohloff TSR conversion at the BoA Weekend.

Not that its ever bothered me as I love my sram dualdrive (upgraded from sach 3x7) hub, but it's certainly no lightweight. I think its versatility makes up for its "undamped weight" and wonder about the other IGH options. I've just bought a Rohloff hub and adding it to the Moulton is looking as a definite possibility although the decision isn't final yet. My Landrover is overdue for a refurb and I'll probably need something to ride whilst its disassembled. A large wheeled off road tourer like a Surly Ogre would definitely open up some outback camping opportunities here in Western Australia that the APB couldnt carry the water for (unfortunately).
